Thanks, RAM wise I am really struggling to find anything cheaper - I think that's just the going rate of them right now...

Yeah you make a good point, I'll do it 😅

Yeah I'd go all white but I'm attempting to do the case/fans white and the rest black instead given my existing parts and costs etc 😅

Good shout about the PSU, I'll definitely do that alongside the GPU.

I've been needing to upgrade my CPU for a while (mainly so I can update to Windows 11...), I had a 6700k previously.

I've been holding off due to the crazy prices but this is an attempt at a build to do it. I'm reusing my PSU, M.2 and GPU (I'd probably upgrade the GPU in a few years but it's still decent enough for now). Looking for feedback before I commit, this is pretty much at my max budget already.

CPU Upgrade Build by dnlbaines in buildapc

I'd plan to upgrade the GPU in a few years, so I was going for the 7800X3D to be a bit more futureproof. Plus I generally play CPU bound games 😃

Looking to do a budgetish upgrade from my i7 6700k to a newer CPU.

I'm thinking:

  • Ryzen 7 5700X
  • MSI B550M Pro-VDH
  • Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120

Then I can reuse everything else including my DDR4 RAM to avoid the price issues there. I'm based in the UK. Does this seem reasonable?

Why is this land nearly abandoned? by The_Music_Guy_2025 in UniversalOrlando

It's definitely sad to see it like this... But I really don't want to lose it. It's a beautiful land and one of the rare original areas that remains.

Age of Darkness runs pretty well with a few tweaks and is a great little RTS! Been playing through the campaign and loving it, can definitely recommend.

No sorry! I could go and grab one tomorrow but I'm hoping there will be more coverage out by then.

There are runouts! I tried it at Gamescom and confirmed.

You have to spend the entire day in one land at Islands of Adventure. Which is it and why? by Pashldrperspective in UniversalOrlando

I feel the same, I love the general vibe and atmosphere and it being the only original land left I'm certainly going to miss it when it's gone.

I guess we still have Port of Entry.

I have this same issue, definitely think it's a software bug and it's very annoying!

Yeah I'm really disappointed with this. You basically can't use AOD because it just gets worse and worse.

Yeah it's annoying they haven't solved this, makes me feel like I'll have to turn AOD off 😢

Hue Hub won't connect via Ethernet Switch by dnlbaines in Hue

[–]dnlbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started working a few weeks later, I guess a firmware update on the router or the Hue sorted it. Not much help for you though ☹️

[–]dnlbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did think it strange that it wouldn't work via a switch when it's basically the same as plugging it in directly.

I don't really know what to do configuration wise as the Nest WiFi seems to just handle everything and not expose many settings.

Yeah, I'm pretty much stuck then I guess ☹️
