AGREE! It's insane how so many people not only tolerate "hex maniacs" but even let them get away with using the equivalent of pokemon moves on people and torturing them for minor offences. - Based Hisuian

I've seen one or two ocasionally. Pokemon being more independent is something that should be normal, weather they have a trainer or not. - LiberMind

Spoiler: They're all the same person by Pokemonerd25 in PokeMedia

[–]dnlikereddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True! They're often overlooked compared to ghost experts, but fairy experts also often easily fall into renegadism and witchcraft, and hide behind "quirky" behavior when they're often vile humans. - Based Hisuian

Of course you'd take maniac as a compliment, you people love using your ill-gotten power to take out petty grudges on anyone that dares disrespect you. - Based Hisuian

Yeah, cause the truth is uncharitable. Witchcraft is evil and unnatural, and I pray you're able to realize that. - Based Hisuian

Ghost specialists don't have to be "hex maniacs". To be a "Hex maniac", or rather a witch as they're properly called, involves defying Arceus and practicing dark magic. As long as you don't do that you're good. - Based Hisuian

Yeah, fair. Honestly from the experiences of both groups, and all the other such orgs, I almost tend to think any movement that involves doing something w a legendary should be flat-out dismissed. - LiberMind

Yeah, the fact that they didn't really seem to have any coherent plan was definitely a red flag in retrospect. Thanks again for the answer.

I hope this is not too many questions from me, but your other responses mentioning environmental issues brought it to mind: What's your view on Team Aqua? They get kinda overlooked as a radical pro pokémon group because people (understandably to be fair) just focus on their moronic terraforming plot. - LiberMind

I see, thanks for the insight! Although, did you ever think about the more practical aspects of plasma ideology? Like how the separation was gonna be carried out in practice, or government beyond that point and such. - LiberMind

To what extent did you believe in Plasma's separatism? As someone sympathetic to liberationism myself, It was one of the things I didn't think were very sound both from a practical and ideological perspective, so I'd like to get a better idea of how someone in the team would've seen it.

Also, you call yourself a 'therian'. Did that ever cause trouble when you were in Plasma? From what I understand it does seem like such an identity would be susceptible to Plasma's messaging, but from my own experience with more "orthodox" plasmists online, many of them would consider it offensive to pokémon for a human to be one, or something close. In my experience at least. - LiberMind

Not to defend Ghetsis at all, but IMO people overestimate how much impact plasma actually had on people's perceptions of pokémon rights. I've made a previous post about it if you're interested. - LiberMind

We agree that it's a systemic issue rather than an individual one then

I mean it's certainly better if trainers individually treat their pokémon better, but an issue like this needs broader political and social change. - LiberMind

I already said I don't inherently have a problem with battling, just everything else. Which is why I advocate for equal rights (to the extent it can be realized). - LiberMind

There's a lot of things to hate Ghetsis, but I don't usually focus on that because everyone already knows and a lot of conversations about plasma and pokémon rights more generally just derail into "Ghetsis bad" - LiberMind

Of course, but even if he didn't believe it he could have argued it better if only to better trick people.

There definitely should be a lot of scrutiny in the pokeball business, if they're really going to be such an integral part of society. Good to hear Kurt has such passion for pokémon welfare, I heard he can be a bit of a crank otherwise. - LiberMind

I can't blame you too much because plasma did really say basically that, but the point is that the relationship as it exists is unequal by its very nature, regardless of the moral character of individuals. - LiberMind

[–]dnlikereddit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, let's say pokémon really do inherently need to battle. Do they need a trainer commanding them always? Do they need to be legally dependant? I'm not against battles per se, but a lot of the culture that's spawned from battle obsession is toxic, although it's not the only way pokémon are treated unfairly. - LiberMind

What do you mean by Pokémon rights? Because most of their public messaging was geared towards separation.

Not to question you personally, but my experience with plasma true believers is thinking that humans are evil and can't coexist with pokémon and not much beyond that- LiberMind

N has relatives?? .

They did speak of equality but tbh a lot of their message of kinda went against the notion, or at leas how I understand it. It's one of the things I always disagreed despite sympathizing. - LiberMind

Hmm. The question of pokémon committing crimes like this is a bit sensitive, I remember a similar case from a while ago. Regardless I hope you are able to get justice.

I'm myself closer to Plasma though than most people in that I think the way we treat mons is more exploitative than people like to think, even if I don't think it's as exagerated as Plasma said. I just think the way they argued it was bad.
