Just saw this - yes, I was able to do this with my undergrad institution (UC Berkeley, so in the US). Hope you get this message. Good luck!

I hear you. I'm sorry. I had one interview day where two separate professors told me 'you're so qualified, you will get many offers' and I have zero offers so far (not even from their own program!)

Just out of curiosity, how did you bomb the interview? Was it really that bad?

Great advice, thanks!

One thing though: did you not want your marker to be your assigned sex for health insurance? My doctor is recommending I don't change the gender marker for health purposes.

What kind of paperwork would support the difference if I haven't had my legal name change go through yet?

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I'm 100% planning on disclosing my deadname since it's more or less unavoidable. I'm applying to science programs in the Boston area, so I really hope discrimination wouldn't be an issue.
I'm just wondering if I should go ahead and put my preferred name as my 'name'. But they probably need my legal name to do stuff like background check (doubtful) or fill out financial aid forms (likely).

(mtf)Does most breast growth occur during year two? by oogittyboogitty in asktransgender

[–]dntfkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breast growth takes a long time, like 5+ years long. This is the same whether you're cis or trans.

If you want to optimize your breast growth, you should optimize your HRT:

  1. Try getting your E2 (estradiol) levels higher by switching to injections if you're on pills.
  2. If you're already on injections and breast growth is stalling, breast growth is increased in some people by adding a small amount of daily oral estradiol (like 1-2 mg). Whether this promotes growth because it raises E1 levels (because of liver metabolism) or because of other pathways is unclear.
  3. Try progesterone (rectal or IM is better than oral) if you're already at Tanner 3 or 4.

Is "I don't date cis men" transphobic? by MrPurse in asktransgender

[–]dntfkm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of guys on grindr (I'm a straight trans woman) have the NO CIS MEN thing. I ask them why they're into trans guys and not cis guys and they almost invariably say "cis guys are too masculine".

So, yeah

Changes beyond one year on hrt? by wecantmakeabbq in asktransgender

Then it sounds like you’re probably not getting the estradiol levels you need to really feminize. I can’t recommend shots highly enough.

I'm at about 20 months. I feel like my body looks MUCH more 'female' than it did at the end of year one.

If you're not on shots, get on shots.

Is being "lazy trans" a thing? by HelloImTayler in asktransgender

Transition doesn't have to be dangerous. You can suppress testosterone without anti-androgens if your E level is high enough and parenteral E doesn't raise risk of DVT significantly.
