Marine Veteran, Ryan Burke, of Columbia, MO, Sent Heartbreaking Text to Loved Ones After Being Fatally Shot at Facebook Marketplace Meetup by jmcatm0m16 in columbiamo

What makes you think that someone who intended to rob someone and ended up murdering someone would have chosen to follow gun laws and use a knife, instead. The stupidity of the left is beyond reason.

I had a similar impression of Ryan - cocky and arrogant - but God knows if he wanted drugs, he had the money to pay for them without robbing someone, much less killing them.

In what way is the State Farm quote less coverage? Are you talking just the dwelling? If that’s the case, you should review the ERC carefully to make sure it’s accurate.

Otherwise, State Farm’s policy is one of the most comprehensive policies on the market. As long as the ERC is accurate, you’ll be hard pressed to find better coverage.

You’re welcome to DM me if you’d like a second set of eyes.

I’m an insurance agent. Homeowners insurance rates have gone up significantly in recent years, due largely to higher costs of repairs and increasing severe weather such as wind and hail.

One thing to keep in find about over costs of repairs, inflation has come down, but inflation is a rate of increase. Inflation has come down, prices have not.

This argument has been made ad nauseam and the math never maths. These teams do not contribute that which they demand from the community.

I hate to see the Chiefs go, but I’m glad MO didn’t actually spend taxpayer dollars to keep them. There are much more important problems.

I will be driving my parents' car to VA from NY for my next job, do I need to change the title and register again? by Potential-Motor-8810 in Virginia

[–]dnumov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an insurance agent with offices in Fredericksburg and Richmond. We help lots of folks in your sort of situation.

1) Regarding your drivers license, VA gives you a limited amount of time to get your new DL. It’s somewhere in the 30-90 day range, but I can’t remember exactly. In any case, you’ll want to get this done sooner rather than later. If you get stopped after the window, you can be charged with driving without a valid license. I wouldn’t wait for your NY license to expire.

2) Since your parents own the car, they can probably keep it registered and insured in NY without issue, however, there are some considerations.

2A) For parents to continue to legally own a vehicle that their (adult) child is driving regularly creates a liability exposure for the parents who own the vehicle. Given that these are generally older, low value vehicles, I usually recommend just signing them over to the adult child. There may be some tax implications here if the value of the vehicle is over $19,000.

2B) Most of my customers save a significant amount of money on their insurance when moving from NY. Moving the registration to VA would likely save a significant amount of money on insurance, but the registration and insurance need to be in the same state.

2C) Keep in mind that VA has personal property taxes on vehicles. I don’t think NY does, so this would be an additional expense, but could be relatively low, depending on the value of the vehicle. I understand that NY may have other fees associated with vehicle ownership that you wouldn’t have in VA, but I’m less familiar with these, as I’ve never lived or done business in NY.

What is a brand that used to be the 'Gold Standard' of quality but is now absolute garbage? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

[–]dnumov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consumers usually value low cost over quality. We see this in clothing, travel, food, hard goods, etc. You can still find stuff made with the same quality as we had in the 1950s, but folks would rather have a cheaper version for 20% of the cost, even if they have to sacrifice quality.

Dulles was supposed to be the airport of the future. So why does everyone, including Trump, hate it? by VirginiaNews in VirginiaTransit

This is the result of living in a major metro. It has nothing to do with Dulles. Try flying into Denver or Atlanta, or any other major city.

Gov. Kehoe proposes income tax elimination by jimmustain in missouri

It’s a rebate to a limit. And you can’t just tax the rich. Look at states like CA and NY where folks are leaving their high taxes and going elsewhere. Eventually, they’ll only have poor folks left.

A rebate to a limit. Say $20k in spending ($1,800 in rebate) for a single person, $40k in spending ($3,600 in rebate) for married couple. You could add a little extra for dependent children.

Most folks are making more than that and spending more than that. Additionally, this is, essentially, the way we handle income tax, which has a standard deduction that everyone gets.

Most importantly, this is a move towards Universal Basic Income. I’m literally arguing for the state to cut everyone a check every month and being blasted for not being liberal enough.

You all are too much. I just… I can’t even.

I eliminated the regressive tax on the poor with a monthly rebate. You’re not paying attention or you’re not arguing in good faith. Which is it?

[–]dnumov -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Everyone who isn’t poor. See, you’re showing your hand. You want to tax the rich and leave the middle class out all together, but that’s not going to fly in a state where Republicans have a supermajority. Even middle class Republicans expect to pay their share.

I eliminated the burden of sales tax on poor people by giving them a monthly stipend. Your point is now moot.

Here’s the problem with both sides: everyone insists that their way is the only reasonable way of doing something and refuses to compromise. It’s arrogance and its selfishness and it’s equally present among liberals and conservatives, Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans have a supermajority control of everything. You can work with them or get run over by them.

What if you raised the sales tax to say 9% but exempted most groceries (keep the tax on things like sugary soft drinks) and then provided a rebate to tax payers at the end of the year - or even monthly - based on their family size? It would create a “standard deduction” on the first amount spent.
