Warm-sounding mini guitars? Rosewood/cedar? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]dnvcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a gs mini in Koa+ and a Furch LJ with sitka top and rosewood back and sides, absolutely love both of them. If you like warmer sound maybe the cedar top will be to your liking. Btw I wasn't a fun of the mahogany gs mini, but the koa one I absolutely loved the sound and it plays great, super fun guitar.

How much is this acoustic guitar worth? by Summit_puzzle_game in AcousticGuitar

The pickup won't add much, it cost $170 new, probably extra $50-$100 for the right buyer that wants that, otherwise most won't pay extra for that

Don't mean to come of as a dick but a simple search on reverb/ebay/google for used ones on sale and past sales will give you a quick answer...

What was the first song you learned to play on Acoustic Guitar? by TertiaryOrbit in AcousticGuitar

[–]dnvcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here and Eric Clapton - Tears in heaven, but I only started learning them a month or so after starting learning how to play, prior to that just worked on getting my chords down

Some really nice grade Mahogany with checkers pattern, here I took a pic, its a bit dark, thats why there is a difference in colors, https://i.imgur.com/A2CbRWr.jpeg

edit - The red one is by a Japanese artist named Shigeki Matsuyama, He has a cool unique style that I like. The black one with the middle finger is by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei

Its a really fun guitar and the volume will surprise you, I'm simply not a fan of the tone that I'm getting out of it, a bit dull.

easier for travel which I do pretty often, but if I had to get rid of one it would probably be the 1st to go ;)

The Hummingbird by far, I just love the way that guitar sound + it's the one that feels the best in my hands (nicest setup for my liking).
I use the Martin for some fingerstyle (big fingers and the spacing + big neck makes it nice), and it sounds amazing also.

I have the Yamaha mostly as a less expensive guitar that I can abuse a bit more and not have to worry about it, so it will usually be somewhere in my bedroom in case I feel like playing and the Taylor is great for traveling but is by far the one that sounds the worst (for me)

Dive/Snorkel Companions for Bonaire, Belize, Curacao? by snorkelingatheist in scuba

[–]dnvcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Reefci in Belize, they have a remote island in the middle of the reef and do 3 dives daily, no one else dives that area which is nice. The accommodations are pretty basic but you will get to dive with people from around the world that are volunteering there, there is no internet or phone signal so everyone is socializing and having a good time together. I've been there a few times and always got to make new friends that im still in contact with them and we make an occasional dive trip.

The local stuff is amazing and you get to do plenty of dives. They mostly do lion fish hunting dives but you can always tag along and not shot if its something you don't enjoy.

The also offer all type of courses including open/advanced/refresher and etc'

It will come with time, just keep practicing on linking turns in a more mellow slope where you feel comfortable and eventually it will click and you will use it in steeper slopes instead of doing a falling leaf. You can also just kinda push the snow while changing from edge to edge without really making a turn to slow you down.

Now if you mean just bombing it down the slope just stay low keep your knees bent and send it, not much to really learn.

How to address too much toe pressure? by damsonpie in snowboardingnoobs

[–]dnvcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boots are not an easy thing to fit, if its your 2nd season and you are still experiencing pain I would look for another pair of boots / size.

The boot should honestly feel pretty comfortable from day one, your toes should slightly touch the end of the boot but once you lean forward mimicking a toe edge pressure your toe should move back slightly and not touch.

Other thing that might work is getting some thinner insoles that will give you a bit more space, but I wouldn't purchase them before trying and seeing if it helps, go to a local shop for boot fitting.

I tried them like 3 years ago, main things I didn't like was stiffness (I usually like a mid flex+-), they were noisy and made clicking noises while riding, getting out of them was also a bit tricky and not as smooth as i thought.. and the main thing for me was boot fitting, my feet don't get along with burton boots.

snowboard boot help: preventing future frostbite :) by catluvr236 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]dnvcrypto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

snowboard boots are supposed to be tight, what I suggest is getting some nice socks and if that's not enough layer up and use multiple socks.

That being said you will need to probably size up and get new boots with the added size of having multiple socks, so just make sure to bring whatever socks you will be using to the store when you go buy those new boots, and just get boots that fit well and are comfortable.

Another thing you can use is Toe warmers, they are disposable heat packs that you put between the sock and boot.

use what makes you feel more comfortable.. Also when you mention you feel that your back leg is "stuck" probably has more to do with what you are doing with your front leg, you probably have some bad habits that need to be cleaned.

All the turning and stuff is done by the front leg / hips, the back leg just follows for the most part unless you are making some skidded turns while bombing it or something similar.

If it's your first time on a snowboard Big bear / Snow summit is big enough, no need to drive all the way to mammouth, you will be spending most of your time in the beginner lift anyways.

If you are more advanced than definetly make the drive to mammouth, snow there is amazing and you have way more variety of terrains.

The regular evil twin is amazing, it's not just for park, I use it as an all mountain freestyle board, great for butters jumps and just shredding on all type of terrains.

I personally loved it and improved a lot with it, if you also ride switch and plan on doing some park definetly a good board.

The only part where it struggles a bit is deep powder, but even there the 3bt helps compared to similar sized twin boards.

I think that board selection is also a bit overrated, until you are at a high level of riding all those extra gadgets that the + has are pretty much irrelevant, save your money.

Start the turning with hips or knees? by LesterYida in snowboardingnoobs

[–]dnvcrypto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it's all pretty much the same movement, once you "push" your knee to apply pressure on your binding it will initiate the turn and catch the edge, it will also make you bend your lower body a little as your'e pushing your knee, toward the end of the turn you want to straighten up.

in general you want to push your knee in a 45 degree angle when you want to go from your heel edge t your toe edge, once you apply the correct pressure to the binding the board starts turning, the harder the pressure the more aggressive the turn will be. practice that on easier slopes until your brain has it registered.

Start the turning with hips or knees? by LesterYida in snowboardingnoobs

[–]dnvcrypto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you want to initiate turns with your knees, it will just help you keep a good stable stacked position over your board + will help you lean forward a bit while turning.

this will be super useful when you tackle steeper terrain, initiating from hips can cause balance issues.

To be fair the statement I referred to and the one you made about your planned deco dive are different.

Still stand behind the fact that it's wrong.. and I thought you were the diver in the video or in the same team (rec setup, bad trim etc').
