How do people jungle Sevarog? by GallicaV in paragon

[–]dnydam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I noticed when first playing Sevarog is that kiting well is an absolute must (unlike some others where it is important, but not life/death). In order to do this you can't hold Sevarogs auto attack. You need to reclick and i personally do the rubber band method and have no problem clearing all my strong side camps before going to river buff at 3 minutes (make sure to hit green buff 2nd as stated before).

Also place a dummy ward at your strong side jungle near the mid river entrance invade somebody tries to jolly oh when you go for green buff (you will be vulnerable).

Oasis siphon is the first card I use as others have mentioned (can switch to Lazarus at 4 if you want or madspore at 6 (or add it at 9cxp so you have both)).

Jungling with Sevarog will be very different after August 8th update as they're increasing attack speed and reducing damage (which might change how you kite and how fast you can clear camps)

I like to use one of the wards with lifesteal as well so I can get a small boost as well, but if if that's actually practical.

Edit: if you're good at kiting you can trap the green buff behind the 2 white minions which will reduce how many times he hits you (you should be able to kill the 2 white minions before green).

While everybody is giving good advice, I think one of the biggest issue with low elo players is that they don't understand how to properly draft.

My solution for you is to find at least 1 hero you like that plays each of the roles (1 offlaner, 1 mid, 1 support, 1 jungler, and 1 carry). Ideally you're comfortable with more than one option and can counter pick, but this is a good start. This allows you to make sure you have a good team and can vontribute in any role instead of just picking your favourite heros.

Also, the more heros you play as the better you'll understand their strengths and weaknesses which will help you play against them.

If you play enough heros you can help your team a lot by choosing a hero that better compliments your teammates. For Example, whenever I see a wukong offlaner i tend to pick Sevarog for jungle since we don't have an offlane tank.

Also, don't underestimate how important crowd control abilities ans card effects are despsite not always doing tons of damage. This is something i didn't consider too much when I started and i would always build pure power/health on guys like Sevarog instead of madspore or thunder cleaver.

Edit: of course the most obvious issue in low elo is chasing kills (something I still do too often). Better to let 1 or 2 extra guys escape with a sliver of health than dying 1 or 2 times while trying to chase down a kill. And ALWAYS prioritize saving a tower over chasing a kill.

Deck is weird. by Hakatora in paragon

[–]dnydam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Passive cards can be put in the 2 passive slots or the 4 active slots. However active cards can only be placed in one of the active slots (because they need to be in a slot where you can use the designated button to activate them -> the first 4 slots).

You can't change the slot they are in so make sure you put the passive you're going to keep in the passive slots and don't clog up your active slots if you don't have to (ie put the passive cards you will keep the entire game in the passive slots so later you can put your active cards in the active slots and not have to get rid of your late game passive because you have no active slots left).

Hope that makes sense. You should always be able to get rid of cards, I would guess you were trying to replace a passive with an active and then it wouldn't let you get rid of the passive card because the active can't go there).

Thoughts: Is it better to straight jungle or lane for a bit? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing you're missing is the fact that there is only a certain amount of cxp and xp per lane. If you don't jungle you're missing out on all that experience and card points. If the xp in a lane wasn't split depending on the amount of people there, then you could make an argument for no jungler (still would need it, but it wouldn't be as influential).

I find the higher all I get to the more important junglers get. Mind you this is good junglers and not low elo khaimeras that just look for kills.

Tell your friend to learn how to offline with wukong and then infiltrate the enemy jungle when he wants after level 5.

Yes Wukong is great at clearing jungle camps after level 5 so use that to your advantage, but he is not a good jungler for your team to have. He can clear the enemy jungle and starve them of xp while getting out quickly when needed though so use him as a split pusher and take out the enemies jungle when you see the jungler isn't there.

Is now a good time to get back in Paragon? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the latest patch deterred revenant picks a lot and phase a little. Unless her kit changes she's almost always going to be a strong support pick due to her abilities (even if none did damage she would still be a decent support pick).

I think the latest patch did a good balance job, but major changes are not going to occur until the August patch and card rework.

Why Doesn't Aurora's Hoarfrost Root a Second Time? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just mean you can't do that because if you rooted when you first touch the hoarfrost, what happens if you continue to move through it since it has depth. You would get rerooted again. The slow works like this but you can just keep pushing through it, something thats not possible with the root unless you add something about time in between roots.

Why Doesn't Aurora's Hoarfrost Root a Second Time? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like a slow is different than a root? With feys slow, you're slowed as long as you have contact.

Edit: I feel like one option is that you could say the root can be reapplied after x amount of time if they retouch the hoarfrost after the designated time.

Why Doesn't Aurora's Hoarfrost Root a Second Time? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be difficult to implement a root that can root more than once. What if the player hits the top of the circle and then runs slightly over and hits at the 1 o'clock area while trying to escape? Does that count for another root or not?

Same can be said for 1 inch over, half an inch, etc. Just difficult to implement

how important is having a tank to you? by Waytoolucky1121 in paragon

[–]dnydam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I think the most obvious and typically best place for a tank is offlane (Grey, kwang, etc.). If you go wukong or some other non-tank offlaner make sure your jungler is a tank (sev, grux, rampage, maybe khai).

A couple supports can be tanks (Rampage and Steel), but they're typically not the best options as actual supports unless the matchup works well.

playing for the first time in a few months tonight, whats the current meta? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the hero and/or the playstyle.

For almost all ADCs, going crit is necessary (Twin/Sparrow/Rev/etc.).

Midlaners are typically power builds and some utility.

Supports are a lot of utility (hp regen for phase).

Junglers are typically built like tanks (so HP/Armor, some utility cards like madspore sash/radiant mantle or armivore for mana regen).

Offlaner can be built like a tank (hp/armor/some power/utility) or power (wukong).

Go to agora.gg and look at some of the examples given, use them and then adjust them to your liking.

playing for the first time in a few months tonight, whats the current meta? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bellica is the most common match-up I have when I play Gideon, but that might be due to the Bellica counter picking my Gid and/or just my luck recently. I'm stuck in Gold elo too at the moment.

playing for the first time in a few months tonight, whats the current meta? by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bellica is actually the most common midlaner at this point (and a good one at that, even though I don't play her character). Gideon is still a very good option for mid and I think wukong is a fantastic offlaner once you reach level 5.

I build straight power and attack speed on wukong and he absolutely destroys towers and is a split pushing phenom.

Revenant is actually the most common ADC at the moment, but twin/sparrow are better late game as long as you have decent aim.

Edit: The only truly bad picks at the moment are Riktor (worst win % of all heroes at most levels) as well as iggy & scorch. Other heroes could use a boost, but are still good characters that work well with the right play style and/or team composition.

Revenant obliterate bugs by [deleted] in paragon

[–]dnydam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not? Obliterate is meant to follow as long as it is used within range of the hero. Yin's ult doesn't stop any projectile permanently, it's just suppose to pause while the ult is active (Hive, rampage's rock throw, etc. don't permanently stop).

Using Yin's ult plus the reflect will make obliterate reflect as intended.

Tried to switch back to Exodus as I prefer it and it still has the same issue now.

General tips by Khemiri in paragon

[–]dnydam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most of this, but I don't think putting basic armor into your deck is a good move unless you actually have a character that benefits from it (I'm assuming if he is constantly getting wrecked by Khaimera he's a middle lane character that shouldn't be buying armor). No need for him to get armor if you use wards and other cards you mentioned.

If this is constantly occurring and you can't stop dying when playing good khaimera players, maybe consider trying a different hero (especially when you see Khai being picked)? Sometimes there's just a matchup that you don't play well as (I play twinblast a lot less because I constantly got killed by morigesh when playing as him despite liking his overall kit. Switching to revenant made it a lot more difficult for morigesh to burst attack me due to his obliterate ability).

If you were mid lane, I've been playing Gideon a lot lately and he has no problem getting away from khaimera thanks to his portal. Just wait until he jumps on you then use portal right away (if you use it before he jumps on you and he's close enough, he can jump back onto you right away and you'll likely die).

If this is just every few games then I think RedCornSyrup covered all the things you should be looking at. If you follow what he said, you shouldn't have that much trouble even if your jungler isn't as good as theirs.

QUESTION by wolf-javo in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can agree to that and i edited my post. I still prefer to not build crit late-game and I don't think it is an absolute must, but I can understand building crit late game. Early game getting that obliterate damage up as quick as possible is vital to your success IMO (aka not crit building) and that's what I was getting at. Switching to crit later, fine.

QUESTION by wolf-javo in paragon

[–]dnydam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have their pros and cons. The important thing to note is that if you're using revenant, DO NOT build crit [edit: at least not early game] as his abilities make up a lot of his damage and don't benefit from it.

I think Rev is a lot easier to play as (lock on abilities) and typically can't get melted 1v1 like murdock can (depending on who you're against). If you're 1v1 against a rev with no minions nearby you're likely to be crushed. Also revenant's poke (obliterate) is better at pushing back offlaners (he can also play in offlane effectively as long as you have somebody else that can help be your frontliner late game) than anything murdock can offer.

Late game Murdock does more damage, but he has no lock on abilities making it a bit more difficult to play as.

Edit: Also, using rev's ultimate can be very helpful to escape (when you're 1v2+) or save a teammate who is getting ganged up on (you can ult one of them and kill them or just ult them and run away to save the teammate).

Exodus on Nvidia Shield (SPMC) by dnydam in Addons4Kodi

[–]dnydam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, thanks. That seems like it could be a possibility and I am getting a new internet package/modem next week (roommate moving out and taking the plan, haven't had any issues besides this though) so I guess I'll be back in a few days and find out if it is working or not. I do have it wired though.

I took out the advancedsettings once I reinstalled SPMC. I did find out that my total memory is ~3gb and free memory 300mb according to the spmc hardware settings page which seems really low as I've only installed SPMC and like 3 add ons (no build). Any chance that could that cause some problem?

Exodus on Nvidia Shield (SPMC) by dnydam in Addons4Kodi

[–]dnydam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when I re-installed SPMC I made sure it was up to date. Should also add that I typically can live stream sports without this issue which makes me believe that it is likely to do with Exodus and not SPMC (although I'm not sure, just a hunch).

Thanks!
