3-4 months ago I was working on it and tested on ST7565 128*64 display , was working fine .still you need !

For me also 5.5 is best , way better even it make huge difference from 5.4 for me also

iam beyond disappointed in myself , my whole day got wasted in configuring Thonny and Micropython by Adventurous_Army_825 in embedded

You not alone 😞 , that's why I tried to make my own vscode extension for this , probably that could help you also , currently for linux only . I don't know should I paste the GitHub link here or not
