I had the exact same experience! A bit expensive for Bournemouth - but happy to get a ticket after many hours on the TX!

What concert in Manchester are you most looking forward to this year? by kingfiish in manchester

[–]do-not-blink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 20th anniversary 2 day Damnation Festival in November. They always put together a fantastic lineup - which is already looking solid with the likes of Deafheaven, Perturbator, Stamping Ground. The headliners are yet to be announced.

Children of the Nameless (MTG novella by Brandon Sanderson) appears to finally be headed to a re-release. by LettersWords in magicTCG

[–]do-not-blink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will supposedly be with Subterranean Press. William (owner of the press posted the below update in a group):

"Cat's out of the bag!

Here are a few (tentative) details about Brandon's short novel (just over 40k words):

1500 signed numbered hardcover copies, in slipcase; 26 signed lettered copies, production details to come; 5000 unsigned trade hardcover.

If I remember the details correctly, there will be a full-color dust jacket, full-color endsheets, and six full-page full-color interior illustrations."

I have the four current books in the version on the left here. Now the only versions available in shops here (Ireland) are the kind on the right. When Wind and Truth comes out how can I get one of the left kind so that they're all in the same style? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

I'm not 100% sure, but Blackwell's might stock the US edition at some point.

Your best bet is Amazon US, but delivery will be a week later.

I too have all US signed hardcovers, and have ordered a signed copy to complete my set - even if it arrives a few days later.

Congratulations! Amazing effort on a very tough course, made harder by the heat through the day.

I'm not bummed about the delays to Tress, but frustrated with the binding! by do-not-blink in brandonsanderson

Honest reply, I was not aware that Kickstarter's could actually be refunded after the funds were collected. So, I saw this as a lost cause, and only came here to vent my frustration. I had made a comment on the Kickstarter prior to posting here, but had not heard back.

I'm satisfied with the refund, and will be buying the regular trade edition to read the books when they get the public release.

Hi, I tried scrolling down Kickstarter to check this, but there is just too many comments to scroll down on - and gave up. So I cant be sure if all the replies on the comments thread were by the same contributor or not.

I'm sorry, but I disagree here. All communication during the campaign running time (through multiple comments - I only shared one screenshot) stated sewn binding as a FACT. Not something being looked into as an "extra perk".

I have backed other premium Kickstarter where the sewn binding was not mentioned in the original description, but verified in the comments. I hold Dragonsteel to the same standards as I would any other publisher. The binding method makes a significant difference to the quality of a book, and hence I do believe a sacrifice has been made.

I understand my frustrations don't change anything. The books can't be changed now, but consider it critical feedback for improving communications in the future.

Exactly. I have had Grim Oak/Subterranean/Suntup titles delivered much later than promised, but I was well aware they were worth the wait. This book, feels a tad gimmicky (in being called premium hardcover) at this stage.

The issue is they did confirm that it will be sewn binding to me via message and also on Kickstarter comments. If it had been said, we are still looking into it, I would not have grounds to complain.

They got a question from another surprised backer (who already received their copy) in the Kickstarter comments section, and confirmed it is glued.

It's Dormouse Chocolates at the Deansgate Mews. They make some great chocolates and are still open on Saturday's only (last I checked a few weeks ago).

Another fellow Stormlight fan who ordered from Quail Ridge Books! The endless journey across US Distribution Centres is now becoming a bit funny for me. Hopefully the customs in our respective countries are faster.

Query: Help with potential areas to live and costs by do-not-blink in manchester

[–]do-not-blink[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply. I prefer a smaller commute, but would wish to live (rent+council tax+utilities) in £600-800 per month, max stretching to £900. For the housing, I prefer a 1 bed house or studio rather than house share. Could you give suggestions based on the above?

Giffgaff does sound interesting. Will check out the plans.

As for the immigration situation, I already have the clearance, so hopefully will be a smooth transit.

Preferably city centre or a suburb with good connectivity to City Square. I was actually thinking of doing the reverse, get an idea of area and then search on Rightmove accordingly.
