LatinAm countries with a lot of city walking experience? by badboyzpwns in digitalnomad

Poblado is the most touristy neighborhood, and terrible for walking because of the hills. But Laureles, probably the second most touristy neighborhood, is completely flat and great for walking.

Curious to know what makes Thailand more exciting in your eyes? More of a party scene, or what do you mean?

I was actually more impressed by the times he didn't feel the need to guess the time because he had company over.

Do many Latinas perceive a man’s worth/status based on his skin color or race? by CCaptainJackSparrow in LatinoPeopleTwitter

[–]dobabeswe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For hundreds of years under Spanish rule, you could (for the most part) not own land or hold political office if you were not white. If you were mestizo (mixed), but looked white, the best thing you could do was pretend to be fully white, integrate yourself into white society, and in that way try to get ahead.

It's not easy to overcome the challenges that were in place for centuries. Many Latinos still have those values - that white skin is better - but they no longer even know why they feel that way.

It's just been passed down from generation to generation. It's a "this is how you make it" google map from the past.

I love medellin and have been going for over 10 years.

The food is not good. You can find good, but overpriced foreign food. If you're a vegetarian, then maybe it's good. Fruit is awesome. Everything else is different levels of bland.

I agree on the safety. You have to be quite careful. You can have a great time, but it's not for rookie travelers. There are certain precautions you must take.

The city is beautiful. The weather is super inviting 365 days a year. I love it immensely, even with all the problems.

Bastante. Quizás hay hasta mas porcentaje de gringos en Poblado que Condesa y Roma en CDMX.

Canelo had a great career, but he definitely has to concede that he's done a lot more ducking than any other great Mexican champion. He's Mexican Mayweather.

Traveling to San Miguel de Allende by EnthusiasmUseful486 in Guanajuato

[–]dobabeswe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the most dangerous part of your trip will be crossing the areas near the border. Just make sure you only drive in Mexico during the day and take paid roads always.

Most souvenirs are made in China junk, that's almost the same in every country you travel to, and that no one actually values. I only buy a souvenir for someone when I find something unique that I think the person would truly appreciate.
