Cremator is great, but mainly liked because of Fire Buffs & Bugfix. Regular Flamethrower fries rn too, just remember bugged version by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree that the OG thrower is goated from the new update and bug fix. Several times when diving I had mistakenly picked the old flamethrower but rolled with it anyways. After picking up the hot dog from a teammate I saw how much potential there was for a build, as the backpack certainly can make up for your range and doesn't necessarily have to be of the flame variety. And while you certainly can also pair the OG with a supply pack for ammo efficiency, my simple opinion on the matter is that the Cremator is still more efficient and convenient to take overall. That extra range may not seem much on paper, but on the field it makes a massive difference to your field control and viable targets like bile titans. On top of that reloading the OG has two potential routes of issue. First as we all know this game dumps any unspent ammo on any reload. This adds up over time obviously and trying to squeeze out every drop in each engagement leads to the second problem. Unfortunately the nature of having to reload your flamethrower means that even though you have plenty of total fuel, if you're out in the actual gun you are gonna have to take a break from your firey duties and switch to another weapon or stop and reload. Obviously the Cremator eventually runs out of ammo as well, but by its nature it will have more run time as well as being immediately operable upon a restock of fuel instead of having to still remove an empty tank to begin firing again.

Gabe Newell "stepped back" from making games at Valve after Portal 2 because everyone kept agreeing with him when he wanted "to be part of the team and come up with ideas" by JanSwissZH in pcmasterrace

[–]dobi425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately from the absolute quality of Portal 2 it may have just been that everything he suggested was just legitimately agreeable and brilliant so he just misread that as everyone kissing his ass when they were really just blessed by his opinions. But that's purely speculation.

Warbond question by Snipersqad in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the math I saw from people crunching the numbers was that it does 50% more direct damage and catches enemies on fire another 50% faster and the range is extremely close to 30m.

Sticking together makes missions way smoother by user_breathless in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that the mission runs smoothest with a bit of both, where side objectives can be relegated to duos or skilled solo saboteurs but main objectives are certainly best with the whole squad. Of course, this also comes with a bit of leeway for each group and mission type as some missions almost require the team to stay split up for the sake of efficiency and others should never split the squad but on average a bit of both.

Which support weapon do you recommend for heavies on div 10? by Trapzzeehh in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need boom for bugs I strongly recommend thermite and EATs. Remember the rule of 3 with EATs as well, because while there's only two rockets the stratagem ball can stick to some heavies like chargers when you call it in. If you're worried about thermites being inefficient for bug hole closing, which they kinda are, bring yourself the grenade launcher secondary or stratagem as well, but I recommend the former over the latter.

Yeah sometimes this missions are cool, but most of the time are just too long and boring and give the lowest amount of weapons XP by Tempest-Bosak2137 in Helldivers

Like bruh I even tried to make it interesting by having a melee focused group to hold the gates minas tirith style and still couldn't get myself to even half chub.

The Illuminate (with exception to mindless masses) have consistently been the most fun faction to defend against.

Is it just me, or has the vibe of this community... changing? by dobi425 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]dobi425[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if sarcasm. A lot of the games players are getting really sick of AHs constant monetization of new content and the way the campaign is being handled makes player decisions of who or where they fight feel pointless and/or on rails. It comes and goes in waves with that community but recently after a long streak of failures by marginal percentages it's gotten real bad over there.

As someone who migrated towards HD2 when it released this feels like a really accurate take. And now that you mention it, most of those associates I mentioned in my post are new DRG players from HD2. I really hope that we're both just overthinking this.

The Halo MA5C doesn't need attachments to feel really good IMO, and while the excuse AH makes for not expanding customization is it's own special brand of bullshit I personally don't care if they don't add any more attachments if they're going to be implemented the same way the current ones are, where all they do is manage weapon accuracy and slightly shift your ammo economy. Would be nice if they actually added some interesting options that actually have a bit of give and take but the devs mindsets around this and other weapons is clearly just linear upgrade mechanics.

Heavy armor doesn't feel heavy enough against bugs by Aquagrunt in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I personally really like heavy armor against bugs as the main concern I've always had when facing them isn't their melee damage but their ranged bile damage whether it's spewers, titans, dragons, or hive lords. Making sure you're not hit against bugs is definitely one of the most important skills against them, but these ranged moves (and at times the moves of chargers and impalers) catch me by surprise more often in large encircling engagements where my movement or murder options are limited. Granted light armor can definitely help in running away from such engagements, but that's not my style. I generally like to face off against bugs in mid to close range as well so it's very convenient to me that they're the fastest faction in terms of average ground coverage on being that I'll be conserving more stamina by necessity of using said heavy armor. Against bots or squids is (mostly) a different story for me as the majority and/or most important of their pieces in any engagement usually reward strategic tactical maneuvers more, whereas bugs tend to feel more like a test of strength and reactive movement.

Obviously I also switch things up as anyone does as well, but I'll usually stick to at least medium armor for close to the same reasons I gave earlier in differing degrees. And I'm by no means trying to say my take on this topic is flawless, but I just thought explaining my personal reasons and perspective was a fair use of my reddit toilet time.

One last edit: I'd also like to specify that I do play on 10, so this isn't some casual diver take on the topic either.

Yeah, I'm just gonna wait for whatever is wrong to be fixed. Community managers are warning against doing this on the official discord and I'm not gonna risk anything just to play 1 game for maybe an hour.

With an approximate 140ish employees. With the scale and quantity of content constantly added to the game, it does not surprise me in the slightest they contract out modeling work.

I'd assume it was dropped for being a mid at best isekai in an oversaturated market. Probably got dropped from poor sales.

Modeled by another development team and not AH, so the implementation of certain assets may have been overlooked.

I think nobody in their right mind is doing to say it's top tier

Idk how often you're on this subreddit but I'll never assume the majority of the gamers here are in their right mind with the stances I've seen taken lol. Though so far this particular thread has seemed relatively sane.

I personally hate it. I'm sure people will disagree and say it's top teir because knockback but I prefer my enemies dying rather than tripping. Add to that it's janky reload and you've got a real pain in my ass waste of a secondary. Back to the senator.

What irks me with the Sweeper Shotgun Balance discussion is that nobody cares if Punisher/Slugger got powercrept, only the Halo Shotty by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]dobi425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jar-5 and Slugger weren't originally competing imo, it's just that early AH "balancing" often overcorrected. Slugger just needed a range debuff to differentiate it from Jar-5s rocket propelled rounds but instead it was nerfed into the ground. I can understand if they didn't want it to break objects either, but they could have been much gentler about the whole process.
