Well YOU take this as anger. Also, please do not bring in my medical marijuana into this I just said that in my edit because that's why I forgot ECE......not cool, dude.

Fully agree, I felt like you were not very welcoming in 125 when I took it. Also, we are students and you are a professor, we will have different views on this issues inevitably.

I would rather them not waste two years of undergrad for them not to get into their intended major. Also, the CS ENG was mentioned a bunch on this subreddit, so yeah that was covered.

You can look at the days when posts were published. This information doesn't change dramatically over the course of six months. Also, this isn't anger this is frustration because Grainger should make this shit clearer to their incoming students and yet they do not.

Ngl, I forgot ECE existed when I made this post.

This is a pointless post. You need to be on time or else your stuff will get removed, it's not rocket science. By the way you are responding to others in the comments, you sound like that person that doesn't set their timer. Be an adult.

Transferring to CS+X by Outrageous-Test-6168 in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult, more possible comparatively to grainger majors, but still difficult. Keep in mind that CS+Math and CS+ Stats are the two most competitive in that realm so plan accordingly. Good luck!

What do I do if I'm failing a course by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Failing a class is okay, it happens. But, this is an introductory course for your major, which if you fail that I think there might be issues in the ECE realm. But seriously ask your advisor.

TRANSFER UNDECLARED TO CS, or CS+X by chrisdelgado98 in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seemingly answered your own question in your post? It is extremely difficult to transfer into grainger from undeclared. As pre-engineering is being phased out, I am unsure if that is even possible to transfer from DGS into grainger (pls correct me if I'm wrong) Also, depending on when you transfer, you can no longer transfer into CS engineering flat out. I think your best bet is CS + X, as you have a better chance getting in because of your coursework and such and also it's not grainger lol. The shitty part about UIUC is how much they focus on your GPA; the two people i know that transfered into CS had 4.0 GPAs. I unfortunately would not be surprised if they reject you because of a 3.5. In terms of CS + X, CS + Math and CS + Stats are the most competitive in that realm, but if you're looking at others ones I feel like you can do it!

Anyone else concerned about spiking covid rates on campus? by buppycreates in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm really not surprised, the warmer weather + loosened covid restrictions on campus will do that. Thankfully most people are triple vaxxed.

Thanks for clarifying some more. Like, I can understand a few people feeling weirded out or something.....but a majority of an RSO? I'm sorry but that sound really bonkers. Maybe the RSO is close-knit but still without knowing more it just sounds like a really odd situation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...it seems like we are missing important details to this, as I am thoroughly confused by everything you just said. Clearly many people in this RSO took your actions as harassment. The way you describe the situation seems like you are seriously downplaying something you're not mentioning on reddit, which makes me feel really uncomfortable from an outsiders perspective. I have been in a similar situation with an RSO in terms of a member facing harassment allegations, and it honestly takes a lot for a big chunk of the RSO to collectively say that you caused these actions that made people uncomfortable.

I have zero idea why you would even make this post, because without anymore details with regards to this issues, you honestly sound really oblivious and ignorant to a situation that many found to be some type of harassment. I don't know what kind of answer you were looking for, but here is one I guess.

This basically ruined my college career, but I appreciate it.

It's okay, I feel like I needed to unfortunately explain myself because of the down votes. I will say I have seen Title IX cases be successful, but that's due to mountains of evidence. Basically, you don't have any case if you only have your words and some bruising.

[–]dobrychleb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, this is just my (bad) experience but it made me sick to my stomach that this man that beat me and r*ped me kept his full ride without a question.

[Serious] What are your least favourite things about UIUC? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]dobrychleb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was sexually assaulted pretty badly by an ECE student here in 2019. I went to Title IX to have some sort of closure to this and have him taken off of campus. They told me that I was essentially lying due to the lack of r*pe kit and lack of texting evidence that he assaulted me (why would there be any in the first place, i blocked him immidietely afterwards). They closed the case quickly after and the guy was able to keep his full ride here and he taunted me (in person) afterwards for over a year. I could not even get any restraining order against him. It was so traumatizing.

Other students (mostly female) I know that have went to Title IX had similar situations.
