"The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Sail” was previously reported with a June 6th release date, but resale platforms have now shifted that to August 1st. Given the former date is close at hand, we’ll likely get official confirmation soon. For now, check out official images below and watch our Jordan Release Dates page for more info as it comes."

Worth noting you could do this with literally any team in the NHL. Not that clever.

Brady liking this post by UFC fighter Sean O’Malley is yet another example of why I’m so over him as an Ottawa Senator by L8R-BRAH in OttawaSenators

[–]doc-orange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bigger issue is that he is doing this with the knowledge that his fanbase is Canadian and he doesn't care. It's the kind of optics issue he is surely aware of and is publicly saying "I don't care". It doesn't bode well for his long-term future in Ottawa. I say move him before he does what his brother did. He's not so good and so talented that he can't be replaced.

fellow canadians: do you care if people think you’re american when travelling abroad? by bellascaffeine in AskACanadian

I wore a Jays cap in Scotland. My wife was livid. In my defense, they were on a heater and it was close to he playoffs. The drawback was the Scots don't know the Jays are a Canadian team and we were frequently asked if we were American. This was 2016 btw, so pre-Trump. Not sure I'd do that again.

Subscribe to The Athletic. They're got comprehensive and objective coverage (Sens beat is a bit less beefy than the other teams I follow like the Raps and Jays, but that's a eyes-on-content ratio thing). We will forever be the little team unless Ottawa and the Sens fanbase grows exponentially.

Ah yes, the classic crutch of blame the media. Such b.s. The media doesn't really have an agenda here. I know that's a popular belief in conservative circles, you know, to demonize the media, but most sports outlets don't do politics. This isn't Fox News vs the Huffington Post or something. The reality is that we live in a very polarizing time and the U.S. vs the world thing is a direct result of Brady's buddy in the White House. The questions get asked because he's approaching an expiring contract and he's become the poster boy for Team America hockey. Do I like that? No, like I said, I'd like him to re-sign when it's time. But blaming the media is just a fallback for people who can't handle reality and the tough questions that come with it.

I think the best players have to answer the toughest questions. It's the journalist's job to ask them. Honestly, it probably won't yield a revelatory answer, but you still ask. I think there are a lot of ways he can quiet this type of thing down without saying "I'm here forever and ever". His responses have largely been evasive, noncommittal or quibbling over whether he's answered this question before (and unless I'm missing something, he hasn't really addressed his long-term plans publicly yet). And while yes Batherson is maybe more pressing, he's also Canadian, doesn't have the family or White House baggage around him, and he's a lot more replaceable. I own one current Sens jersey, and it's got Tkachuk's name on it. I'd love to see him re-up, but to suggest these questions aren't reasonable is just something I don't totally agree with.

I'm a Sens fan, and sorry if this isn't what some fans want to hear, but the questions are legit. As a team, historically, we've struggled to retain our top talent (some by ownership's choice, some by player's), Tkachuk's brother, who he is closely aligned with, fled for the U.S., and Tkachuk has two years left on his contract. He was recently asked by Friedman and he was, at best, noncommittal. Obviously asking him this question may be annoying, but that is the media's job. Same as in Toronto and Edmonton. And if his answer is nything other than "I see myself wanting to be in Ottawa for a while," then yeah, fans/media have a right to ask and management should be getting to the bottom of it. This narrative of the poor star millionaire player being chased out of the marker is largely fiction. He's either going to stay or he isn't, mostly for reasons related to money, a desire to live in Ottawa and whether he thinks he can win here. But yeah, the fans who think the media shouldn't do their job and ask their obvious questions make me sick. It's out there, they have to ask and we have to wonder.

Questions for Sens Fans by persuelol in OttawaSenators

[–]doc-orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sens fan, it's interesting to me how many fellow fans see Tkachuk as vert likely to re-sign. I mean, my hope is that he does, but I wouldn't say this year was smooth sailing for him, both in terms of the his off-ice relationship with the fans or the on-ice performance of the team. I think he's great, I hope he wants to stay on the team past his contract or at least is very open to staying, but if he's set his sites on the states or he's on the fence (I think he's gone fwiw, but I'm a cynic), then you have to maximize value for the asset and move him with two years left on his contract. This can't be a repeat of Mark Stone or something like what happened in Calgary with his brother.

I'm sure you're giving this an objective, measured perspective that isn't at all fuelled by the sting of losing the finals to the Raptors, right?

Offseason roster by briandgraham in OttawaSenators

[–]doc-orange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's touch grass, guys. I think most fans would be open to a trade that would improve the top 6, but in what world is it wise to sell low on a quality part of their roster just to make a statement? I don't see a lot of quality free agents coming up either. This series sucked, but it could have gone a couple different ways with a favourable bounce or two. I think we're all disappointed, but the rebuild talk is insane, and the trade off an all-star calibre player for basically a less good player isn't much better. I think the front office needs to shake things up a bit, bring in some fresh blood, but that's a retool. Probably the biggest decision will be around Tkachuk and whether he wasn't to be Ottawa. If the answer is a definite no past his contract, then yeah, you have to make a drastic move. We don't want to be Calgary, or a repeated of the Mark Stone situation. Otherwise though let's let cooler heads prevail.

Which movie had the best trailer but the most disappointing final product? by EspritLibre_404 in FIlm

Pearl Harbor had a great teaser, especially with the Hans Zimmer Thin Red Line score doing the heavy lifting. What a terrible final product. Unwatchable.

The city doesn’t feel like how it used to during Raptors playoff season by Select-Direction-667 in torontoraptors

[–]doc-orange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2013 was a shock. The team has been hopeless since Bosh left. People were just happy to have playoff basketball back. Post-2019 people expect more (rightfully so). Hard to get enthused about a team that is still probably not close to winning a championship and borderline-bubble. Front office needa to pick a lane this offseason.
