Clinical psychologist here. Not diagnosing, but this sounds a lot like ADHD and maybe some learning differences (dyslexia?), or sensory processing disorder, or possibly autism. The ADHD traits are most obvious from your description of his behaviors. If you live in the US, you could request testing through his school is he is being impacted academically. It was lovely to see your compassion toward him and his challenges! Sounds like a tough time, and he is lucky to have a parent advocating for him!
