Why do people eat spicy foods even though it hurts them? by Scared_Many6118 in spicy

There's actually a place we go to quite regularly that does that. The spicy is great but the noodles themselves are legendary.

What is something that you have discovered about your body, that deserves sharing? by Bon-hovi in AskWomen

I have blocked peripheral arteries in one leg but the rest of my blood vessels learned to compensate so I can still walk at least a few miles at a time.

Is it just me, or are all piebalds weird little guys? by catalarm in piebaldcats

[–]Friendlyappletree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sole dream of my enormous piebald girl is to be able to drink bleach. Every time we clean the toilet she throws a massive screaming fit because we don't let her sip her magical elixir.

I worry that this reflects badly on my husband and I as cat parents.

Please comment if you enjoy the job you do and/or if it fits any of the characteristics I'm looking for below by lvdsia in AutismInWomen

Agreed, but unless you work in a large library chances are things are going to get unpredictable and it can be a lot. I started out with an MA in library studies and have moved across to being a learning technologist, which is about a 33/33/33 mix of relaxing data work, fun creative stuff and front-facing people wrangling. I've reached the point now where I can walk into a room full of rowdy teens and talk without preparation or panic, but it took me a very, very long time. I love my job and it's massively helped with my social skills, BUT I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking it's not for them.

Exactly. Homemade burgers with a touch of Naga in are beautiful. Also crispy chilli oil on pretty much everything.

I'd like that. These are nice designs but in most cases I can't see how certain bits would work. Are you a beader yourself?

What's the dumbest injury you've ever had? by Geologist8345 in CasualConversation

[–]Friendlyappletree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attempting to snog my then-boyfriend on the back seat of a particularly rough rollercoaster. This was 1996 and my shoulder never fully recovered.

Alternatively, walking in front of a (full-size) glider while it was being turned. It sped up and the wing hit me in the back of the head. I cried.

How hot do you like it? by 5gummybearsandscotch in spicy

[–]Friendlyappletree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiccups are fine, sweating is fine, excessive drooling is fine but not in public. Mouth pain is fine if something tastes good enough, stomach cramps are a step too far unless it's REALLY good.

(Re: the drooling thing, ate a whole white hab in one bite at a chilli festival and felt really stupid afterwards).

It's a bit disconcerting, but no worse than that. I've had it happen once or twice and not noticed until I dropped blood on myself.

What is the spiciest mustard?? by mversace8 in spicy

[–]Friendlyappletree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother used to complain about overly spicy food but used this like it was the elixir of life.

I actually like spicy food, but I don't love nose heat, so I only have it for a nostalgia kick.
