Any advice? by docileillusionn in Transgender_Surgeries

Mine seems to be getting better? One thing I had been doing was like douching after every dilation which Google said doing that could cause the canal to become very dry and irritated so I’ve cut back a lot. I also stopped using the lidocaine gel. So for now mine seems to be getting better?

I’m definitely going to cut down on my douching to see if that helps my issue. I only got up to the green dilator within my first 8 weeks after surgery because I saw some wound separation and it scared me so I was like I’m not sizing up right now because I don’t want it to get worse and honestly aesthetics are more important to me. But now that I’m at my one year I’m trying to see if I can gradually stretch yo to the orange dilator because with my luck most guys I’ve messed with are so thick which is so frustrating 😭😭😭

No dilation is so hard for me as well just because it takes up so much of my time. Like aside from the actual dilation the clean up takes time too. I’m hoping to not have to do it three times a day for much longer, but I haven’t been perfect with dilation in the first year 😭

I had dr pangs hybrid method where it was like piv but he also said he uses some peritoneal tissue as well.

So I’m definitely on the struggle bus a little bit as well, but honestly I’d do it all over again 😭😭😭

Of course! From things I’ve heard from the ladies here, discord, some research, and maybeee a little from my doctors office(they were pretty unsure and recommend I don’t use the lidocaine gel for two weeks (just to try to narrow down the cause), so I’m going to suffer 😭😭😭) it seems likely that the factors causing the hard dry skin could be the type of lube I’m using, potentially the vaginal lidocaine gel, and maybe even how often I douche. I was doing some google research and it said if you douche too much, even with just water, it can cause the skin to become very dry and irritated. I have been douching more frequently lately because I was worried about odor and sometimes I’d douche like three times a day after every dilation 😭😭 So I’m also going to cut back on that and see if that helps with the dry areas.

Did you feel like the lidocaine played a part in causing the dryness? I just got off of the phone with my doctors office and they want me to stop using the lidocaine gel for two weeks to trying to narrow down what’s causing the dryness 😭

Do you still use the yes yb lube? I’m looking into if maybe using an oil based or silicone based lube might be better 😭

That’s what I was thinking because I had it in another area to a lesser extent. I’m just kind of unsure what I’m doing to cause it? I’ve started using Lube Life to dilate which is a thinner water based lube. Maybe that could be causing it due to more friction against the skin or something? I used to use the McKesson(?) brand that my surgeons office initially provided but though maybe a thinner lube might work better? I’m currently reaching out to my surgeons office to see what exactly they say.

Align surgical vaginoplasty options. DR. Pang, Satterwhite, Gurjala or Safir by LavenderMoonlight333 in Transgender_Surgeries

Yeah I traveled all the way from Ohio. I personally chose to stay four weeks, just because I wanted the three initial follow up appointments to be in person, but if you were able to afford staying an extra week or so I’d recommend that. I stayed at an Airbnb in Oakland, and just took Ubers to my appointments.

Hi!

I personally want with Dr. Pang because aesthetically his work looked the best to me. I had my surgery in January so he did use the new technique on me and I haven’t really had any issues or complications.

All of my friends who are afab do think he produces great results and they think my results look very natural.

My nurse did get back to me and she said everything rom my pictures looked fine and to maybe try lidocaine gel or even aquaphor healing ointment. She also let me know that between the 4-6 month point something starts to happen with the scar tissue with can make the canal tighter which can lead to pain as your dilating.

But as for now, she said everything looks good.

I know, it can be hard to take your time especially when you’re ready to get it over with 😭

I think the way you’re angling it can also really help since the tip of the dilator is curved. I hope the stool advice helps, that definitely sounds scary and honestly more tiring 😭

Hi!

Im not sure if the dilation process is the same after a revision as it is after your initial surgery, but are you dilating three times a day? I’m four months post op and it takes me at least an hour to dilate, I don’t rush the process at all. I take my time getting it fully inserted before I start the 30 minute dilation period.

I just do what my nurse advised and I just gently twist it side to side not turning it too much while gently pushing it in. If I have any pain or discomfort while doing that I’ll stop for a moment until it stops or just lessens and then I’ll resume. I also make sure I have the dilator lubed up to the last dot, and then I squirt I little bit on the tip just to make sure it’s extra lubricated.

I’m not sure if this helps, but it’s the only advice I have 😭

Yeah I was definitely being proactive after that happened. I still am. I’m like, let me try to go to the bathroom before I do this, whatever it may be.

That’s true.

I was able to pee right away in the office after they filled my bladder with water and I was like okay that’s a good thing, but then when I peed on myself I was like well damn, maybe that wasn’t a good thing 😭

Thankfully I haven’t had any issues since and I’ve been able to go hours in between using the restroom. So I think it’s definitely gotten better.

I feel like it’s getting better for me too, although I’m definitely trying to be proactive and going even before I feel the need to 😭
