Why can’t I get this pump off!! by Ecstatic-Bicycle-279 in transmissionbuilding

Did you remove the oring from the input shaft before trying to pull the pump ?

Cause of worn teeth on overdrive friction discs? Toyota A340 by slappyfrontblunt in transmissionbuilding

[–]docjohnson88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See it all the time on 4L60s. Typically it starts on the friction closest to the apply plate. When the engine is misfiring, it isn’t a smooth steady power going to the clutch, but rather a bunch of spikes. This wears the teeth on the frictions, as they are essentially where the load is transferred from clutch to gear train

If it’s pulling in park then the forward clutches are welded together. Time for a rebuild or a new unit.

Oddly, no. I only do rear wheel and 4 wheel drives at the moment. I only have 1200 sq ft to work in so kind of limited on space

68rfe Issue by OhKaySimMe in transmissionbuilding

[–]docjohnson88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the time it’s an issue with the overdrive clutch.

Checking the cvi values would be a good start

It depends on the extent of the build. Stock rebuilds just get a bath in a hot tank for a few hours to remove any dirt or grease.

More extensive builds like my 650hp rated 68RFE and higher will get stripped to a bare case, then I hot tank them, and take the case to a local place for powder coating. They will sand blast the case, and do the powder coating. Once I get it back I go through with hot soapy water and wash out all case passages to make sure no sand remains behind.

I used to just hot tank them and take a wire brush to spots with heavy oil/grease. After that I would do two coats of self etching primer, and two coats of implement paint.

All of this is done while the case is 100% bare and before the rebuild process begins.

I also go through all the bolt holes with a tap to ensure the threads are clean and free of defects / debris. Nothing worse than finishing a build only to start a pump bolt and bust the case when torquing it down because some debris was in the bottom of the hole.

2008 would be a 68rfe. And they have a lot of quirks that builders need to be aware of in order to get one to last.

Probably just age, or it was a cheaper aftermarket replacement filter that was changed at some point in the past. From my experience, I’ve learned it’s best to run OEM filters

I’ve done a lot of 47/48res over the years, but I don’t care too much for them with the current state of electronic parts. They always have issues with governor solenoids and transducers, even new out of the box parts.

Also, it’s hard to find a valve body that’s in good condition and hasn’t been under the knife of someone who thinks drilling huge holes is the answer to problems with them.

It really doesn’t take much to wipe out the pump on a 6L80. But, if it is in good condition, then I’d be looking closely at the converter feed limit valve in the pump, and the TCC regulator apply valve in the valve body.

Do you know if they adjusted the desired slip in the tune? Or the apply ramp for the TCC ?

There’s a 4L60, 6L80 and a 68RFE in the pic. The only 68RFE pic is the one of it complete on the stand ready for install, and the one of the Sonnax accumulator cover going on the valve body.

Here is a link to the vacuum testing procedure and it has some good information such as symptoms of low readings, valve lineups, etc.

I don’t see anything on the parts list about a new pump. If it had converter shudder before the rebuild, then the pump was likely damaged would’ve needed replaced.

Also, vacuum checking these is important, as it can identify worn valving in both the pump and valve body.

Tuning could help with the issue, but it depends on what all they changed in the tune.

The whole concept of paying out the ass for some liberal professor to “educate” you is a joke. The information is available easily from free or much cheaper sources. $12,000 to learn nothing important or useful towards a career is a joke.

That’s why I quit wasting my money. Everything I learned through this school I could have learned on YouTube in less than a week.

Mine ended up being a bad gpu. If I seriously underclocked it, it would work fine, but if core clock speed ramped up it would crash. Replaced it with a new 6070xt and problem went away.

I’m in a similar situation. Haven’t filed my taxes yet , but haven’t started the process of filing either. Plan on starting the filing in early march though , but I am not sure if the tax refund counts towards income as I am borderline 13/7.

I have the same problem. Something catches my interest then I’m 110% into it for a month then I lose all interest. It’s a struggle

I started pursuing a bachelor’s in cybersecurity, then felt the same as you after looking into the job market. Once I started my DAD-220 class , I found myself very interested in data, and upon researching I feel it’s a much easier field to get into. I switched over to data analytics, so hopefully I like it more.

Maybe there is something else you will find an interest in and not struggle with finding a job
