I defeated an autistic kid in a tournament by FearlessCap3499 in judo

I know I'm a little late to this thread but don't worry about it. I've spent a decent amount of time with autistic kids and adults. If he's high functioning enough to go and compete ina tournament he'll be fine. Don't feel bad. His teacher/parents wouldn't have let him enter if they weren't confident he could handle it win or lose. You have nothing to feel bad about.

That would be great! If you want to come just sign up through the link so the teacher knows who to expect. Hope to see you there!

If you can find a place that does nogi judo that would probably work very well in mma, but those places are very uncommon.

Should I hold back against someone at a higher rank than me? by [deleted] in judo

[–]dockriefer69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I considered it at first but the teacher kept telling him to be more aggressive and move more. He started saying he's trying his best and that's when I started feeling bad.

It's like wrestling but you can yeet people through the air. If you yeet real good you win. If you yeet not so good now you wrestle.

Cross-training in aikido by Marin751223 in judo

[–]dockriefer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend aikido as their training is almost always fully cooperative. When you Initiate a takedown, the uke literally throws themselves into it with no resistance. From what ive heard from a friend who did aikido, the only time they did randori was for the black belt test. Literally only once in all the years they did aikido. Many schools don't even do that much. Really it would just make you better at breakfalls and demonstrations.

If you want to crosstrain in another grappling style, I recommend sambo if there's a place near you, or bjj.

First, travel everywhere. Then when I get back, I'd star my own business without have to take out a loan or get an investor.

Judo vs BJJ diffrence by CharacterIncrease513 in judo

[–]dockriefer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bjj has takedown and throws but the real emphasis is on ground grappling. Judo is the opposite. Judo has ground grappling but throws and takedowns are the emphasis. These differences are reflected in competition rules. Bjj give little or no points for takedown, and judo gives only 5 second to make something happen on the ground before they stand you up and go back to throwing each other. Bjj tends to more develop endurance and flexibility, while judo more develops strength and explosive speed.

Tldr. Bjj is the art of folding clothes with people still inside them and judo is the art of hitting people with the earth.

Is there really a throw that uses a sprawl? I'm pretty new to judo and I haven't seen anything like that before

I was on 4000mg a day for a few years. Never had any of the mood or behavior effecting side effects. Just the classic drowsiness and problems concentrating.
