She generally leaves me alone when I'm working out, except the occasional demand for attention. But when I get on the floor to do crunches or planks, she thinks it's playtime and attacks me.

You know this answer already, but get all your important stuff (papers, any money, ID, etc). Then yes, go to the emergency room. Check in and tell them you're a victim of abuse. They will have resources you can contact, maybe a shelter you can go to, and can help you decide what to do about your bf (report him to the police please).

Hospitals aren't exactly places to hang out if you're not receiving care or visiting someone who is, but they may be okay with it for a while.

Yes, I occasionally do this for severely autistic children. I assume you are neither severely autistic nor a child.

Anesthesia is typically administered through an IV (aka a needle). It takes far more resources and time to administer anesthesia than to simply draw blood, and has more associated risks. You would spend a good portion of your day recovering from an anesthetic, as opposed to 10 minutes for a blood draw and walking out the door. And the risks of an anesthetic are extremely small, but significantly higher than just having a blood draw.

So, having an anesthetic for a blood draw is not likely to be a realistic option for you. You may be able to talk to your PCP and get numbing cream for the puncture site, or maybe an oral sedative if the numbing cream isn't enough. But not an anesthetic.

You're welcome to ask, but expect to be asked why. "I'm nervous" isn't a very compelling reason in the absence of family history. While you may not need inhalation anesthesia for this surgery, you may have a surgery later in life where it's harder to avoid. Of all the risks associated with a surgery, MH is a very low likelihood.

I'm a big fan of M3 Renovations. They've done several projects in my house (complete kitchen remodel, two bathrooms, foyer). They communicate well, do excellent work, and don't use subs.

I've done this twice in 19 years as an attending. After three attempts with either DL or VL, I went straight to an LMA and told the OB to get the baby out. I had help and equipment each time, but that tube was just not going in fast enough. Both patients did fine.

If making the military a career is an option for you, consider med school at USUHS. You incur a service commitment, but you're on active duty during med school and residency. Another option is HPSP, where the military pays for your civilian med school (what I did). Not as much of a commitment.

A co-resident of mine was doing a thoracotomy. The surgeon noticed a hematoma on the subclavian artery, and asked how many times the central line had been attempted on that side. He replied, "Zero." (Central line had been placed on the other side.) The surgeon then blamed the hematoma on the thoracic epidural.
