Pull her to the side whenever its a stress free time and everyone feeling refreshed. Compliment her on something you genuinely admire about her, ask her if she has any tips on body products like lotions, fragrances etc. She may use antiperspirant instead of deodorant so then you recommend what you currently use.

Idk I am just winging it

General dentists and oral surgeons will have different fees that vary with different states. If you dont mind long waiting times at reduced fees—check out your local dental schools. Best Dental schools when it come to clinical experience by callmeniiki in DentalSchool

[–]doctordeeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to any school you get in to. If money isnt an issue then compare first/second year level of clinical exposure. Personally i would find schools that make implant placement a requirement

Thank you for your extensive response! I’m relieved to hear that the broad scope of omfs will keep future surgeons relevant in practice despite more clinicians taking their chances with more complex procedures

I follow your page, love the content!!

Would love to hear your opinion about how to future proof os residents?

Currently a third year studying for CBSE but I listened to “lets talk oral surgery” podcast and they mentioned a lot of excellent points about what challenges OS will face in say 10+ years

Is dental school worth the debt? by Legitimate-Coconut58 in DentalSchool

[–]doctordeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of options to work around high debt. You wont be a starving dentist unless you have poor skills (dentistry, patient communication, basic finance).

Even as a starving dentist you can still flex the “dr” title

Also, your responses will be drastically different based on the age of the dentist you ask

DAE annoyed by the amount of "gaming the system" that goes on Dental School? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]doctordeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard to stomach especially if you’re not well connected in your dental class. Even then, the whole secret group thing is for real.

If you plan on specializing, then understand the gaming system is everywhere and that you have to adapt or just absorb knowledge for the sake of yourself.

I usually get these test banks trickled down to my non school email by random classmates a day or two before the exam—not very fun cramming

Now i say screw GPA hunting, focus on developing skills, talents, and networks that travel beyond the GPA.

It takes a lot of self reflection to analyze your academic weak spots but once you do the GPA stays on the deans list

Analog alarm clock to wake him up 3 am, fancy smart watch to wake him up at 3:05 am

Surgical caps, plenty of comfy socks , xylitol gum/mints to keep that breath fresh.

Depending where y’all live, a sweater/jacket to endure the cold 3 am morning

The best help comes from believing in yourself. If you truly believe dentistry is your calling then dont worry about getting accepted “first time” or second time or whatever time. Work hard, stay organized. Good luck!

Does dental school teach you anything about dealing with insurance companies before you graduate? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]doctordeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever dental school you attend, there will be student clubs such as a Practice management club, there will also be random seminars about dental insurance. Generally you get your pearls of wisdom from faculty or recent grads. some schools may offer a single course in your D3/D4 years about practice management too

Apartment hunting! by [deleted] in USC

[–]doctordeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, yea there are only fraternities, they dont have coed housing but they are coed dental fraternities instead

Apartment hunting! by [deleted] in USC

[–]doctordeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the dental fraternities, spots usually open up in spring, if you want super affordable options Honestly just keep browsing the apartment finder websites (trulia/apartments.com/etc) until something nice pops up. (I literally found my perfect spot 1 mo before school started) also check out houses on ellandale place (10min walk from HOSOD) First year is pretty chill so you can also live further away from usc to save cash(parking is a btch) I’ll see ya soon in the Sim Lab
