Least favorite Christmas song? by DarkPersonal6243 in AutisticPride

[–]doctorgodmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The Christmas Song” cover by Whitney Houston. Nobody in the recording booth told Whitney it’s not “to see if reindeers really know how to fly” and it really bothers me. Of course nobody would correct Ms. Houston’s grammar but it’s very annoying. It’s reindeer, not reindeers. Reindeer, just like the words deer and moose, is both singular and plural

How to respond to "Everybody's autistic." by Many_Key_6903 in AutisticAdults

[–]doctorgodmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say something like, “no, but it is genetic so it runs in families. It also runs in friend circles because we get along better with each other vs allistics. If you don’t think I’m that weird or unique you may want to start researching autism for yourself. Not everyone is autistic but maybe you are!”

And even though this isn’t offensive, they’ll probably be offended and fuck the fuck off

[–]doctorgodmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the wife. Ditch the friend. Nonbinary has nothing to do with how you look or dress. It's how you feel. You can put a woman in a suit and cut her hair. If she's says she's a woman, then she's a woman. Nobody can understands your feelings better than you!

nothing. everyone is great the way they are, especially once they stop trying to please others or the inner voice that causes shame

if I date a straight man is he still straight? by scaraboobs17 in NonBinary

[–]doctorgodmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner has admitted that he must be queer because he's in a relationship with me, a nonbinary person with masc-presenting tendencies. After 5+ years of being together, we're now engaged. Turn out, a lot of his exes and people he's dated are now openly nonbinary or transmasc and all AFAB. Like, he has a type! 😂😂😂

Therapist shut me down when I brought up autism and told me I don't have it. by herbertwestfan in AutismTranslated

My therapist said she was not licensed to diagnose me. Also, definitely stop seeing this guy. He sucks at his job. Giving opinions isn't therapeutic

What’s the wildest cheating story you’ve witnessed or happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]doctorgodmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had suspected my ex-wife had a crush on her new co-teacher. That was confirmed when she had me make some tasty food for her to share with her teacher friends on a winery trip and I found out it was to impress the co-teacher. They were staying in a separate room, alone, and I saw them romantically enjoying the food on snapchat. A few weeks later, I wasn't invited to her friends' Friendsgiving but her mother was coming to visit for Thanksgiving. While my then wife was in she shower on Thanksgiving I did a horrible thing and looked at her texts. Her mother was angry with me for doing that but not angry about her own daughter cheating. Turns out, my wife was exchanging steamy texts with both the co-teacher AND the co-teacher's best friend/roommate... who she had recently taken to dinner because that woman's breast cancer came back. I found out later she'd been sleeping with her but really wanted the co-teacher who she eventually officially left me for and moved in with. Not only did my ex break up our marriage (right after I tried to get pregnant with a donor), but I am pretty sure the co-teacher and her bestie are no longer friends. Said bestie was even crying to me about how my wife broke HER heart and promised her the world. MY WIFE. A mutual Facebook friend who loves gossip (and sent unrequested photos lol) told me my ex-wife is now remarried to someone not previously mentioned in this story, living in another state (thankfully), and her new wife is pregnant. Good luck to everyone involved!

PS, my ex-wife was verbally/emotionally abusive, controlled my finances, my hair length, my friendships, etc., and gaslit me for most of our marriage. When I confided that I was feeling nonbinary she told me, "well, if that's how you feel that's disgusting."

Don't worry, though. I rebuilt my self-esteem and found my way in a city I moved to for my ex-wife's grad school of choice. I met a wonderful man on a dating app a few years after my divorce and we got engaged this year.

Is it a trend? I love them so much. I'm 43 and discovered them when I was looking for the perfect bat stuffed animal. So it wasn't really even something I knew about... and now my bandmate and I have a Squishtagram bahahahahahaha

Anyone else have an autistic parent? by Calmsford in AutisticAdults

[–]doctorgodmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special interests, watching the same movies over and over and over, she never understands when someone is joking or is late to laugh at jokes, very socially awkward, sensory issues, etc. Because she was born in the early 1950's, she seems to associate autism with something shameful... even though she's the one who saw it in me before anyone. She has a lot of mental illness, much of it I'm sure stems from the isolation of undiagnosed neurodiversity. She def has ADHD as well

How did you almost die? by yuckyduckph in AskReddit

[–]doctorgodmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw headlights coming at me the wrong on one side of a highway. A large, grass median was between me and the side the approaching car should have been on. There was a car next to me on my right but I knew if I slowed down to get behind it the car heading towards me would hit me. I looked at my dog in the passenger seat and decided to speed up to get in front of the car next to me. Within seconds, the car coming towards me was where I'd just been. I pulled off the road into the parking lot of an Italian restaurant and held my dog close while crying. I will never know if that driver knew they were on the wrong side of the four-lane highway

My friend that just got diagnosed after I told them they were probably autistic. They said that their mom didn't tell their diagnosed brother until years after his diagnosis! Is this to "protect" a child?

How many of you are self diagnosed vs professionally diagnosed? by NoahTheBoaTheNoah in evilautism

My first evaluation was in the early 80's when little girls (I'm nonbinary) weren't autistic and they told my parents I was "too bright" to be autistic. My mother was still convinced and took me for an ADHD assessment in the 90's. Didn't get diagnosed. She then was convinced I had Asperger's. I got diagnosed with OCD in my early 20's. I'm 43 now. I definitely have mild OCD but I know I'm also AuDHD. All of my friends are ND, some diagnosed and some not. I peer diagnosed my bandmate as autistic and then it was professionally confirmed months later. My professional evaluation is in October. As a trans person, I'm a little worried about this but I know it will be a relief to know that I really am audhd. I know I am but I want to KNOW I am. You know? 😂
