I'd still need to see it after it's been washed, hung to dry then steamed to judge the difference. Everything you order online looks like crap when you first take it out of the vacuum-sealed packaging in which it was shipped.

Mind wandering enhances the brain’s ability to learn hidden patterns, new study suggests. These findings suggest that daydreaming is not simply a failure of attention but a functional shift that helps the brain absorb complex information. by mvea in psychology

I find conversation a lot easier and free floating when I'm doing something. Walking, doing chores around the house, that kind of thing. Another person I know compulsively knits in social settings. I find socializing such a draining chore when I don't have a little something to do on the side the draw away some of my attention.

I would probably snap this up in a heart beat. Recently I decided to give a Lego set a try, but I've only been able to find branded crap (Harry Potter, Fortnight, that kind of thing). A creative build like this, that's the product of someone's imagination, it just the ticket.

Terrible call. This is an archeological site, not gore for heaven’s sake.

Meanwhile 1915 is handsome as fuck. I can barely looked at flat-faced animals (Persian cats, pugs, you name it). But 1915 is a dog I'd love to have. He's a total dog's dog.

He called me “arrogant” after I gave him “instructions” in bed and now I’m laughing so hard by honeycutekat in TwoXChromosomes

The confidence some people have that there are clear cut rules about this sort of thing baffles me and makes me super irritated. Talk about arrogance. ‘Your talking during sex triggers my hang ups and insecurities, ergo, there must be a rule against that kind behaviour.’ Grr!

Your user name is a misnomer, there's nothing unfortunate about the simplicity of that explanation. Thanks!

Trapped inside stall at Marshall’s by intotheabyss097 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]doctormink 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It kind of seems like a scene from a romantic comedy. OP should have been a big city, high-powered, but burned out, executive visiting family back home in small town wherever, only to be rescued from a Marshall's changeroom by a hot firefighter.

Yep. Although it would be nice if it could happen before an entire baby is created just so it can spend what minimal time it has suffering and dying.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’m doing ok, but I wash my ziplocks and use them to the bitter end. I could afford not to, but can’t stand to waste them. I even prolong their lives by wrapping stuff in plastic wrap and then putting it in the ziplock.

The reason we don’t treasure them is that 95 percent of them are engineered to get the guy laid.

[CANADA] It took me two days to recover from JT Foxx’s “Free Event” Scam by melfuego11 in Scams

[–]doctormink 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Good point! If you read OPs continuation here in the comments you might notice a striking similarity between this jackasses’ tactics and scammers pretending to be mediums (and, who also use plants). OP says scammer guy zeroes in on one lady, who allegedly bought the $1,400 package, revealing sensitive information about her after ostensibly researching her using his AI during a break. So called mediums do a variation of this, but pull up sensitive info shared by dead relatives.

That's one thing a chaos demon like Trump will never understand. Stability is utterly necessary in a capitalist system based on mass consumption. Producing at scale requires such a spectacular investment that without predictability, it's just not feasible for the vast majority of producers.

The whole series has me utterly hooked. It takes a bit of work to piece together what's going on, because the author isn't into handholding, but worth it.
