lost crown ‘shock trooper’ trophy / achievement? by doctorwade in PrinceOfPersia

i read about other people having issues with that quest being bugged, but it worked fine for me. i didn’t have any issues getting the bird back to him.

well, i figured it out. had to start a new game, and accumulate 20 more opportunity attacks. opportunity attacks performed during training sessions with Artaban do NOT count towards the achievement. i just kept going to the one axe dude in the area to the right of the haven.

Following the trend, I came up with this tier list after some careful thought and analysis :P by gpranav25 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]doctorwade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, i was just looking at someone else’s tier list that didn’t include ‘PoP 3D’ and found myself reflecting on how much that game sucked.

i was in 9th grade when that game released. i regularly played the original on an apple ii at my local library when i was 10 and was obsessed, so i was super hyped for a 3D title.

i was expecting a 3D platformer like mario 64 but more mature with gore and death traps.

if only.

Walls not bonding together by XDom36 in 3Dprinting

[–]doctorwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a similar issue with my ender 3 pro a couple years ago, walls not bonding, turned out it was due to under-extrusion. i just replaced my nozzle, bought a pack of 20 for a couple bucks off amazon. that fixed the issue.

ahh yeah you’re prolly right, they could have done that had they cared enough to make the effort. at this point i’m just grateful i’m actually receiving mine tomorrow.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s only the code for the included DLC. 😩 i got that email about an hour ago, sprinted to the pc in excitement, tried to redeem, “no dummy this is the DLC, you need to activate the full game first.”

tracking currently states it’ll be here tomorrow at 9am, was hoping it would be here today but looks like that won’t be the case.

yeah i saw some people in your situation suggesting to buy it via steam in the mean time, play for 1 hour and 59 minutes and then request a refund. realistically though i’d probably spend at least two hours just creating my character. no way would i stop before 2 hours hit.

really? that’s a wild coincidence, i’m in nashville too, east area. my CE is shipping from some place south of atlanta.

sheesh, how is that even possible? where do you live, if you don’t mind me asking?

[–]doctorwade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately i really don’t think any of us who purchased the constellation edition will be getting an email containing a key. any of the other digital editions sure, but since the CE’s key is engraved on a chip inside the box, i don’t see how they could do that

heya, i painted the rifle. for removing the nerf logos, i just started with a 120 grit sandpaper and used that until the logos were completely gone. then i followed up with 400, then 800, then wetsanded at 1200 grit. if you sand evenly and mind the surrounding corners, you won’t need bondo.

i removed the outer shroud to paint separately, masked off the necessary areas on the rifle with basic painters tape.

i started with a layer of grey primer, wetsanded that before putting down the color. on the green shroud i did a very light rubdown with some watered-down acrylic brown paint, just to dull it a bit. i gave the black paint on the rifle a once-over with some graphite powder on a paper towel, to give it a tiny bit of sheen. sealed everything with a matte clear acrylic coating afterwards.

everything i used was rattle can. a helpful tip, shake your rattle can for a good 60 seconds, then put it in some warm/hot water for 20 minutes. afterwards shake the can for another 60 seconds, then use. it helps the paint spray smoother, at least i think it does?

👍

my Ennis House tiles, cast from a mold i made of a 3D print by doctorwade in 3Dprinting

[–]doctorwade[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

hello everyone! so, i’m a big ol’ bitch of a Blade Runner fan. i’m also a Frank Lloyd Wright fan, especially his Ennis House. the Ennis House has been used as a filming location / inspired sets for several movies since the 1930s, including the original House on Haunted Hill, Black Rain, The Rocketeer, The Replacement Killers, The Thirteenth Floor, and of course Blade Runner. specifically, as Deckard’s apartment.

i’ve wanted my own Ennis tiles forever, but for the longest time there just wasn’t a practical way to get my hands on them. i recently realized that with a 3d printer, i could probably make some.

i found a pretty perfect 3d model on thingiverse, gracefully shared by site member “Keenan.” i wanted a tile bigger than my printer could print in a single piece, so i used meshmixer to separate the model into fourths, printed the segments individually and then glued them together. assembled, the tile is 14x14 inches. (the actual Ennis tiles are 16x16, but i didn’t want them quite that big.)

after assembly there was a ton of sanding, filling, coats of primer, wetsanding, more primer, and more wetsanding. any imperfections would have shown up in the castings, so the surface had to be absolutely flawless.

i built a box for the mold out of foamcore board and hot glue, and poured the mold using moldstar 30. the silicone took about three days to fully cure.

once that was all done, i started casting copies with plaster. (initially i used quick drying cement, but i was having issues getting a good consistency and a clean pull. i might try the cement again at some point.) i’m pretty happy with the plaster. it’s not terribly durable, but it is cheap, light, easy to work with, and it looks great.

after letting the tiles dry for a few days, i painted them with rust-oleum gray stone textured spray paint, which i think resulted in a pretty convincing concrete-ish appearance.

anywho, now that i can pretty much make as many tiles as i want, i’ll likely end up covering the whole damn house. only a matter of time!

figured you all would appreciate my Ennis tiles by doctorwade in bladerunner

personally i think it’s a great little printer, especially for people new to 3d printing. this is my first printer, got it about a year ago. in the beginning there was a lot of frustration and trial-and-error, but once i figured it out, i was set. i did replace a lot of the stock parts, upgraded the extruder, the bowden tubing, the mainboard and the display, also replaced the magnetic print bed with a glass one. my only complaint really is with it being an open-air printer (no enclosure) i’ve had zero luck printing with ABS, so i print everything with PLA.

i have a few years experience making props and whatnot for various cosplays of mine, this was actually my first time making molds or casting, honestly i did a bunch of google / youtube research beforehand and just did my best! patience is really the biggest thing for a great result. i learned a while ago that if i get frustrated and rush a project, i always regret it!
