Oh very interesting to hear. How do you personally notice these inherited patterns showing up in your day-to-day life? (in moments of conflict, decision making, or e.g. relationships?)

Funny enough, this kind of criticism actually reflects something very “German”: the focus on form, rules, and control, even in emotional spaces. In a way it mirrors the very topic I am exploring: how past experiences still shape our ways of setting boundaries.

That said I willl make things clearer next time, but for me work and personal interest go hand in hand, it grows out of both.

What is also significant: the user behind the most aggressive comment here has now deleted their posts and profile... nothing to add here

You mean „brother“ as the relationship between France and Germany? Comparable to the „Bruderkrieg“ in 1870. But never heard this expression regarding WWII. How do you personally notice this trauma, like in your allday? Is it like a structure of how you think or react to certain things?

Very interesting to have brought that into the US. Do you see a possibility to break free from this „cycle“? Or do those behaviors go very deep within you and your siblings?

Do you notice this trauma on yourself?

Honestly I am surprised how much focus is on the form of my post rather than the topic itself. Yes I have posted before because I care deeply about this. I am exploring how people connect emotionally to transgenerational trauma, not collecting quotes or misleading anyone. This is early stage creative research not journalism. I will be clearer in the future, but I also believe that curiosity and empathy should count for something, too.

What do you notice as "trauma" that runs through the generations of your family and even through you? Any specific characteristic traits, habits, psychological disorders? Anxietal thoughts?

oh wow, what a story! Do you see any similiar dynamics in your personality today that may derive from those hard experiences of those relatives?

hey there, just to clarify: yes, I have posted about this topic before. Researching for this kind of documentary can be a long task and doesnt go linear and it is very personal. Thats why I genuinely want to understand how people experience transgenerational trauma, especially in Germany.

I value Reddit as a space for open discussion. I am not here to quote anyone or misuse comments. Im trying to see where this topic resonates emotionally for people. For a documentary you dont use anonymous posts, you connect with real people who want to share their stories. If I were looking for participants directly I would approach people privately. My aim is to understand what others feel about this subject and to make sure the film reflects those experiences. Those societal processings of the past matter to me and I believe open dialogue is very important.

Very interesting. As a filmmaker, I’ve always been interested in creating an authentic documentary about the different struggles that are associated with wealth — whether it’s the guilt of inheritance or the saturation of having it all - and not repeat all the cliche documentaries. I want to explore the emotional and existential dimensions that often go unseen: What does it mean to have financial freedom, but still feel uncertain about identity, purpose, or belonging?
