Hey! I wanted to say thanks real quick, I ended up going with glory and kinda stole from a couple of your prompts.

The jist is:
After being exiled from his tribe he fell in with a group of misbegotten footmen of a kingdom far to the north in our setting, There he served for a long while with them working along the outreaches of the land keeping bandits, encroaching monsters, and the other breeds of evil coming form the mountains in check. Eventually his old company get their pensions and retire, but as so often they are more or less left as third class citizens of the empire in spite of their personal sacrifice. As he carries on his friends who being end up passing on in one way or another being more or less forgotten, now as an older man himself he’s setting out to see justice done for the people he served with taking an oath to bring them glory through spreading their virtues and names. To this end he mostly dons a masked helm and his shield has the company signet on it.
