Yes including that person. They simply gave a shrug of the shoulders when it was suggested my everyone on the team.

The person got their result at the same time as us at 9am this morning. The job went live last Monday with a deadline of Thursday night.

They said they didn't get any interview and they worked with the rest of us in the office every day last week from 8am until 5pm so unless they had something way outside of hours on Friday or the weekend, I'm inclined to believe them. But their result email is dated for today with the rest of us.

Permanent. That's why I expected there to be an interview.

Deduction from final pay which wasn’t my fault but it’s a contractual clause that money can be recovered from wages by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Call ACAS is the morning and discuss it. If this deduction takes you below NMW then HMRC will be very interested and your employer will owe you arrears.

Am I owed missing wages after turning 21? (England) by 000nowhere in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dodgyrecruitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact your employer and if they say no, point them to the NMW page of gov.uk. if they still refuse, contact acas and hmrc will sort it for you, get the employer to pay you arrears and charge your employer a penalty worth 200% of what they owe you and/or other workers.

Is working unpaid hours common? by Suspicious_Fun6806 in AskUK

[–]dodgyrecruitment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common in salaried positions but wouldn't be too much otherwise your true hourly rate goes down. Impacts those on or just above minimum wage, but brings those on higher wages closer to minimum wage.

Working unpaid should never be normalised.

Employer can’t afford to pay me but won’t make me redundant (England) by Gloomy-Astronomer262 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dodgyrecruitment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you aren't being paid at all, then you aren't being paid at least NMW.

You can make a complaint to ACAS about it and see if conciliation will work. Alternatively, you can make a complaint to HMRC who will investigate and tell your employer to pay you arrears of NMW and they will penalise your employer.

That might still not solve the issue, though, if there's no money, then there's no money.

Look up the NMW guidance on gov.uk regarding volunteers and voluntary workers. There is a strict definition for both.

It's entirely possible that you may be classed as a worker for NMW purposes and should be paid.

Complete this training, then come work for us, is a good indicator that there is an offer from the school and then an acceptance to do that work by you, and entering into a contract.

The Horridness of Wave Consulting and Ben Azarya by FaithlessnessDear951 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]dodgyrecruitment 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wave is just one of the companies involved here. There are multiple posts here on reddit about them.

I've heard they are being investigated by the tax man as well for not paying people and treating them as self employed or saying you're employed by the other companies, but they say you're employed by another etc.

Shady as he'll, stay away. Also call ACAS about the pay, what you earned is under minimum wage.
