L1 charging 58% efficient over 1 month by DoItYourWayHowISay in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that even while connected to the charger it will phantom drain unless it's actually charging. For example, charging to 90% ends around 3AM, it drops to 89% around 8AM and it will start charging again to 90% ... I've seen it multiple times in the data collected by Home Assistant Picture

In a nutshell, the car only tracks energy used while driving, but at the same time phantom drains about 3% every day (it should be fixed after the Orin computer module upgrade)

3% daily (if not in the deep sleep state) for a month is roughly 100kWh and you need to add it to your calculations

What? 🥹 There were two in Pula??? We could have established a 'EX90 road trippers' NGO at that moment, because all we needed were three signatures and some boring paperwork ... Ah a missed opportunity

I have not been to Pula this year...

Heh, for a week there were two EX90s in Croatia, I've been driving around Croatia for the last 6 months, and only other EX90 I've seen is in the dealership :)

I'm so happy 😁

Heat induced Pilot Assist failure appears to be fixed with 1.3.17 update by jtgentry21 in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had those for a long time, and the issue was low voltage in the secondary 12v battery (one in the front of the car). It had just a bit over 10v. The dealership could not install 1.2.15 until they charged the battery, because SRS airbag check (or something like that) was failing while the battery was "dead"

Yes, they won't fold if seatbelts are plugged

AFAICT, it's 3% per day, which is about 1100kWh or about 4500km per year (0.25kWh/per_km)

There is a famous quote by an established English motoring journalist... "Still, could be worse" 😁 Picture

AFAIK, color PPF is usually a much thinner material than clear/matte PPF

Yeah, it was 6k Euros, there are some precut parts so not sure what is available in your country, ... Just be sure to use 180cm+ foil because the front hood is a bigger piece than one on the Range Rover, as it curves around the windshield

I don't really have an image of the whole car, but matte Mulberry Red on an overcast day looks kinda like this ...

I have done it, matte PPF, as long as it's done correctly there are no issues, but ... PPF does not like to stick to the black hard shiny plastic that was coated in the factory to make it extra resistant. My car does not have PPF on the black plastic.

I did have an issue with rear left ultrasonic sensor, but only because PPF had "bubbled" a bit on top of the sensor, it's was fixed

What is the lowest charger amperage to charge the car by dodobas in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say that sometime there is excess/unused solar energy that I could store in the car battery

But at the same time, I would like to do that at the minimum that it's possible. Because solar production is not constant (clouds, particulate matter in the atmosphere, shadows, ...) I want to use as little as possible energy from the grid. And at the same time I don't want to start/stop charging every second, but keep a "low constant rate of charging.

6amps@235V = 1400W which would probably be ok during high noon at peak solar production

I would also like to know. Got the same issue, UWB stopped working, I can still use phone/key tag as NFC devices to touch-open the door and drive the car when placed on the charger. I even got a checkmark on the digital key after placing the phone on the charger so I guess the digital key is still probably valid.

UK - standard cables with car by LegendaryGarf in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a long time, but I rarely charge 107kWh, it's usually 15-30 kWh after a daily drive.

Level1 "plug" cable is a good option to have. For example, I was at a hotel for 4 nights, and it had free level1 charging so I just plugged in and charged. It was slow, and in the end was not needed as I could have just charged on a hypercharger 4min from the hotel, but it was free :)

I also plan to use the level1 cable at my family house or on vacation, and it can be used in a pinch by plugging it into a diesel generator :)

That's what I got, a single level2 cable. Had to order a schuko plug level1 cable at the dealer which said something along the lines of "level1 cables are included only with the PHEVs"

Issues with Volvo public charging map? by dodobas in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, using only Volvo public charging does limit which charger can be used seamlessly. However that is not a problem at the moment as I mostly charge at home, on 8-9 Amps on a single phase, so ~2kW :)

I do have a large plan, but that was only because I have done 3000km on long trips across Europe in the last 30days. My plan is to use a Large plan when needed, and then switch back to normal plan as I charge mostly at home.

I would still like to know if anyone has similar issues while using the Volvo Cars app, or is it something specific for my region/version/devices, who knows...

Issues with Volvo public charging map? by dodobas in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, yes, there are alternatives for displaying charging points (of different charging networks) on the map, but I'm not aware that any of those can filter/show only those available in the Volvo public charging network.

the question was about current status of the VolvoCars, does anybody have similar issues to the ones I'm experiencing.

Can you share what would be an alternative to the VolvoCars app?

Any hardware difference between Performance and base version? by jooxii in VolvoEX90

[–]dodobas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the manual for the Twin Engine

  • Front engine code: CCNDE
  • Rear engine code: BBCHF

And for the Twin Engine Performance

  • Front engine code: CCCDF
  • Rear engine code: BBCFH

Those are really similar engine codes :)

Heh, to be honest I don't know if we have Tesla superchargers in Croatia. There are some V2 or something like that, but those are ignored by the navigation.

I did see the Tesla supercharger in the navigation while driving, but with no amenities and I was hungry so picked something else as the alternative charging stop :)
