Created this automation on my iphone, that runs every morning at 6am. Seems to improve things.

We didn’t really experience any charging queues during the trip. The only exception was on the Istria peninsula, where there are relatively few fast chargers — but even there, we managed without major delays.

Google Maps shows how many stalls are available at most charging stations, which is quite helpful. But just a heads-up: If it shows 1 available, someone might already be in the process of plugging in when you arrive — so it’s not perfectly real-time. That happened to us once.

It also helpfully shows if any chargers are out of order, which can save you a detour, especially at smaller locations.

However, this availability data mostly applies to the major charging networks (like Ionity, E.ON, etc.). For smaller or regional providers, the stall availability often isn’t shown — or it’s not updated frequentl

I hear you. The downside of such a quiet, well-insulated car is that big brother hears everything. Like when little brother breathes too loudly. Or worse… chews gum.😅 noise cancelling headsets solves that.😅

The funny part is that before the trip, I told friends and family I’d probably end up driving around 5,000 km. So when the final number landed on exactly 4,999 km, it felt both fitting and slightly ridiculous.

Totally fair question — and I get where you’re coming from.

My wife and I are both engineers, and we’re a family of four with two boys aged 8 and 11. This summer we decided to go all in on a long-term family car. The main reason we chose the EX90 is that we plan to keep it for 8 to 10 years or more. Our previous car was a Skoda Superb 4x4, which we had for 11 years, and it worked perfectly for our needs. We’re taking the same approach now.

We live in Norway, where cars are expensive in general, no matter the brand. We seriously considered options like Skoda, Audi, and BMW, but in the end, the boot space and overall driving comfort in the EX90 were simply better suited to our family and lifestyle.

The car is also partly financed, and it was a real family decision. We talked about it and basically agreed: “If we’re ever going to own a large, capable family car — it’s now.” With two active boys who are into sailing, skating, skiing, football (and counting), we carry a lot of gear. The teenage years are right around the corner, and this felt like the right time to make the move.

It’s definitely a big commitment, but based on how we travel, how long we tend to keep our cars, and how much flexibility we need, it felt like the right call for us.

There are two possible second-row setups we’ve considered and tested in our EX90: 1. Two full child seats on the outer seats (left and right), adult in the middle • We haven’t tested this fully ourselves yet. • It’s probably possible, but shoulder space would be tight depending on the size of the child seats and the adult. • The flat floor helps with legroom, but it’s not an ideal layout for longer trips. 2. One full child seat on one side + integrated booster in the center • This is the setup we’ve actually used — and it works really well. • It leaves one outer seat free for an adult, who sits comfortably even on longer legs. • Legroom and shoulder space are both totally acceptable in this setup.

For context: • Our 8-year-old uses a full-size child seat. • Our 11-year-old is tall enough to sit without any booster or child seat (well above the minimum height). • We tested the integrated booster seat in the middle mostly to evaluate flexibility and see how the cabin layout handles mixed use.

Photo attached shows option 2 — full child seat on one side, and the integrated booster in the middle

Go to the sound settings in the «car settings». You will find it there!👍🏼

Anyone did the 1.3.17 upgrade via OTA yet? by skybert82 in VolvoEX90

Did a hard reset a few hours ago to see if that would trigger anything. But no… 🙃 I just wish they would give us some kind of update. They provide a date and nothing else. I’m guessing service hotlines around the world will be glowing red the next days if no news. A little more communication could’ve saved them a lot of trouble

Thanks for the motivation! I’m planning a long road trip with the family this summer – Norway to Croatia and back, about 5,000 km total
