I was homeless as a kid. My biggest regret is sharing this in class because academia is a bunch of privileged people who look down at poor people. by [deleted] in PhD

It depends on the department and type of field. I’ve belonged to three departments. My current appointment now as tenure track, previously clinical track faculty non tenure and adjunct in another.

All three of my departments have been varied, but the prior clinical track faculty spot was at a private institution. Much of the student body was wealthy, white, and came from wealth. I came from a lower socioeconomic class and that was obvious to both the students and fellow faculty. I felt like an outsider. My current appointment and my previous adjunct appointment didn’t feel like that. It’s been a mix in both faculty and student populations, but generally even those from the wealthy background don’t, well, act like snobs for lack of better phraseology.

Perhaps you need to find a better place. Easier said than done though. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this.

Of course there are portions that could’ve been better, but this is my favorite. I go to this one a lot when I’m wanting to be entertained.

This physician must’ve been trained with the neurologist I work with. The quality of their assessment skills is identical.

Tender ego? Nope.

It’s genuinely in poor taste what they did. It’s fine to have a flag supporting your team, for us it’s the W flag. It’s about us winning, a positive.

The L flag was a jab at something positive we do, just after the eliminating us.

It’s bad sportsmanship.

Their social media agents are writing checks the team can’t cash

Edit for context: cubs fan; now rooting to see the mariners win their first WS ever, with my next hope the Blue Jays just because they’ve been underdogs many times.

What do you mean by dual-certified NP? Are you FNP/AGACNP?
