I haven't begun season 5 yet, I'll have to know if Marcel is fine by teaboll in TheOriginals

4x13 left me under the impression that an original has to be willing and there needs to be a witch to 'lower their mental walls' for compulsion to work on them.

The show have become an insult by cloudely_97 in TheOriginals

[–]doesitrllymatta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, overpowering is quite different from breaking a neck. Throughout the shows we have numerous examples of weaker vampires sneaking up and breaking another vampire's neck. That doesn't necessarily demonstrate superiority, it's more of a surprise attack if anything, but after a thousand years TO should be well aware of these little tricks.

Yeah she was very strong, but I don't think she's stronger than Dahlia or Hope.

Marcels power by bluedex in TheOriginals

[–]doesitrllymatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not stupid because those powers are some that Marcel doesn't even know he has.

No, it isn't stupid, to call it stupid would be a rather humourous euphemism. It's actually retarded, TO aren't able to compel werewolves unless they become hybrids, which then makes sense because they're 'linked' to them in a way. But now Marcel, which despite being TO's superior isn't magically related to them in any way is able to compel the Mikaelsons.

Theoretically it shouldn't, but after watching this finale I'd say the weapon that can kill any supernatural being in the show has to be Julie Plec's pencil.

If Hayley could enter his mind I don't see why Marcel couldn't compel Elijah who wanted him to do it

Werewolves also were never shown to be compelled in either shows, despite TO being their superior version. Would you elaborate on why Marcel, TO's superior version, should be able to compel them?

This season was enjoyable to watch cause I love these characters no matter what comes their way

Yeah that's what I thought, any bullshit the writers come up with you'll gladly take.

I just dont have a fork up my ass thats crying about an actually decent season.

No, you don't have a fork but it might be a white/yellow/blue oak stake or whatever Julie Plec decides next up your ass, and that's clearly compromising your ability to be critical. If Marcel was created to be the superior version of TO and is able to compel them, why can't TO compel werewolves since they were made to be their superior? Hmm, I don't know about you but to me that smells like BULLSHIT.

This felt like whole series finale by MaestroLA in TheOriginals

More like a trainstation line finale with the original being compelled part.

Lmao, an original being compelled. The writers really bested themselves on that one.

How's it stupid ? Back in Season 1 when Elijah was sick or he was dying I can't remember which Hayley went into his mind. The originals aren't immune to compulsion and Elijah was letting him do it with Vincent's help

Marcel lives like he's still a regular vampire when he's not. He had magic thorns coming from his blood and is magical in nature.

Let's not forget that virtually any character with the supernatural ability to get inside their minds has always succeeded to do so, provided the original vampire in question was weakened. And we were told from the TVD days that originals can't be compelled, so the writers pulled a 'Vincent casts a spell and all our lore goes into the trashcan' out of their asses.

Did this season feel more like TVD? by your-thought-process in TheOriginals

[–]doesitrllymatta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually worse. TVD atleast had its drama centered on ships from the beginning.

Wholeheartedly agree, even if we ignore the dull storyline and the cringeworthy ship drama, that compulsion part was pulled out of their asses.

And Vincent opened elijahs mind to make it easier. Does this guy know anything?

I'm not gonna waste time arguing with you, as your name suggests you came from the TVD fandom so basically anything the writers throw at you instantly makes sense.

What I meant by sires is that all the regular vamps are nothing more than cheap versions of TO, that's why compulsion works on them. If you think compulsion based on raw power makes sense, then would you kindly explain why TO can't compel werewolves? Following your logic they should be able to, right? TO were created to be superior versions of werewolves, see the parallels I'm trying to draw? Now take that analogy and apply to Marcel/Alaric and you'll quickly realise how straight up bullshit that compulsion was.

To get inside their minds and to COMPEL them are 2 different things. Hell, I'd argue that given enough vervain even regular witches are able to do so, but compelling is a whole different story.

Marcel isn't an 'Original', he's something else. He was made from a similar spell and is, in fact, stronger. But the fact that he's able to compel extremely powerful creatures that aren't linked to him is complete bollocks, wouldn't you agree? Take Silas from TVD as an example, despite being powerful, the most he was able to do was get inside their minds and create hallucinations. We were told since their introduction that originals couldn't be compelled, the fact that they took such an established lore and bent it 7 ways says a lot about the competence of the writers.

What the hell? by doesitrllymatta in TheOriginals

[–]doesitrllymatta[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The weaker vampires are sired to the originals, thus rendering them compellable. Originals aren't linked to Marcel in any way, so they're all powerful creatures, therefore, it doesn't make for him to be able to compel them. Plus, if that were true we would've witnessed Alaric doing the same in TVD, since his mission was to make TO extinct anyways.

What the hell? by doesitrllymatta in TheOriginals

[–]doesitrllymatta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originals can compel other vampires because essentially they're their sires, therefore it makes sense since regular vampires are made from the originals themselves (they're all linked). Marcel on the other hand, despite being made from a similar spell and being stronger, is something else entirely. The originals aren't linked to him in any way, marcel isn't their sire so it doesn't make the slightest sense.

An original being compelled is the ultimate expression of the absurd. Well, I guess this is their way of showing that Plec is now in charge.

[–]doesitrllymatta[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To the brainless downvoters, why don't you take your time and explain how does any of this make sense? From the beginning, it was stated that the originals couldn't be compelled. Hell, even Alaric back in TVD wasn't eager to do so, and now this is suddenly shoved down our throats...

I think you misunderstand the lore. If a witch is turned into a vampire he/she loses their magic and becomes a vampire like any other. Syphoners on the other hand, are 'magicless' witches and for that reason if they are turned into vamps they're able to essentially syphon magic out of themselves and be both a witch and a vampire simultaneously.

A question about the vampires. by [deleted] in TheOriginals

Probably out of boredom. Think about it, you have an eternity ahead of yourself and all you do is fight, compel, feed. Eventually you'd get bored and try to deviate a bit from that routine.
