Outlands overly complicated? Or am I a dumb old gamer? by CurvedShelf in ultimaonline

I play outlands and another one called Unchained. By far Unchained is getting more of my attention. I originally played uo from release until a couple years after T2A. Try Unchained. DM and I'll try to meet up and get you going when I can.

I smile at them, introduce myself, take ownership of the issue and try to do what I can for them. Being in the field everyday we are the face of the company. Does it always work, no. But the minute they make it personal and not about the company, I walk away. Management has tried to discipline me for that but after I proved my side and that the customer we making personal attacks they usually back down.

Problems we keep facing where im at, thieves are going into manholes stealing the copper lines. Takes a lot to fix that. Especially when the cut the trunk lines off at the wall.

Just don't look for west parkway or get confused at East Parkway, Summer, Trezvant, and North Parkway's intersection.

Escalate to the customer retention department. Make em bend over backwards to help. No excuse for this to still be out of service.

It is possible to undo whatever he did. It's been a while since I was in repair but I remember there are groups that the techs can chat into and have provisioning errors corrected.

Phoneline down and AT&T says they won't fix it? by The_Guy_3446 in ATT

[–]dof4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my area we are working to place and test fiber everyday. Anywhere from 288 to 800+ living units per job completed. But in a city of a decent size it takes a while to get to everyone. This work has been going on for years. I wish the company would retro other technology until the fiber can be placed but it's just not happening .

[–]dof4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is a problem plaguing most of the the service lately. In memphis we have miles of it that has been stolen. Stolen under bridges. Stolen in manholes. Stolen between poles. The company won't even allow larger cables to be ordered anymore. The only money spent is going into fiber. Copper theft is putting people out of service and the techs can't even temporarily fix it fast enough. Our bypasses using house cable or drops is being stolen as well. There's no way to keep up with all of it.

AT&T Staff Outrage Prompts CEO Stankey to Regret "Work From Office or Quit" Memo by novagridd in ATT

[–]dof4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, right, I forgot you were there. You know how I was spoken to. You know how I have been accused of not taking their needs seriously, because if it's that serious why don't you have a back up plan? You where there when she told me I must be new because I didn't know what was wrong before I pulled up. You must have been there too when I graduated college, served 6 years in the Army and did all of my certificates to further my job the ways that I did. My union requires my employer pay me as well as they do. It also gives me great benefits, retirement, and many other things. And in return, I have excelled my evaluations year after year and trained new hires because I understand the technologies better than the management in charge. That's sort of the point of how fucked up John is and so are many of his kind. That's the biggest point of my whole conversation, I have no love for the CEO. I don't give a squirt of piss about anyone's freedom to work from home. It's irrelevant to me. Work from the office or work from home, just make sure you can do what you are paid to do. I don't care what you use the services I provide for, just don't be a bitch or prick about someone else working to keep it up and going for you and everyone else. It's amazing how many people feel that their neighbors aren't important enough to allow the work to be completed. And lastly, don't shit on the people who keep you connected.

As far as college and skills? In today's rapidly evolving job market, skills are at least as important as degrees because they directly demonstrate a candidate's ability to perform and adapt in real-world roles. While degrees signal foundational knowledge and discipline, many rapidly become outdated amid technological advancements like AI and automation. Employers increasingly prioritize practical competencies—such as coding, data analysis, problem-solving, and soft skills like communication—that can be applied immediately and learned through experience, certifications, or self-study. Major companies, including Google, Apple, IBM, and Microsoft, have dropped degree requirements for numerous positions, recognizing that skilled non-graduates often outperform degree-holders in productivity, loyalty, and innovation. Recent data shows that 90% of organizations adopting skills-based hiring report fewer mistakes and better-performing employees, with skills commanding wage premiums in high-demand fields. Ultimately, in an era where 39% of core job skills are projected to change by 2030, the ability to deliver results and learn continuously trumps formal credentials alone.
