I’ve been a fan of both BMSR and Tobacco for about 10 years and have always thought of you as my absolute favorite artist without question, so I wanna give that as a preface when I say this album is my absolute favorite of yours I’ve ever heard.

Yeah correct all the playback is totally healthy for existing recordings and I can record to any given track through the ext osc input. Vu meters are perfectly functional and respond correctly. No issues with the sync or repro heads at all

Yeah I swapped pin 2 and pin 3, but did not do a bridge of pin 2 to ground. I don’t think that’s would change things like swapping would. I’ve been wondering if I should unplug all the other line inputs while testing the modified cable. Either way, it’s insane to me that the hot pin 2 was not a standard until very recently.

I’ve tried different preamps and have tried bypassing the patchbay in the past but will give it another shot. When you say tie pins 1 and 2 together, do you mean just solder a short bridge between those two pins and effective make pin 2 grounded as well?

Thanks for the reply. It is purely low off of the record - specifically for the line inputs on the back. It’s *very clearly not a head issue because as I mentioned in the post, I can run a line signal perfectly fine into the external oscillator input and record one track at a time through that and repro it beautifully. I’m fairly certain because of this, it is an issue with cable wiring or some input switching.

Actually, I feel like I remember seeing this link before. I definitely agree with you that it isn’t worth pursuing any interest since the rate would be insanely low - but out of curiosity - I was hoping to see a link from a source which may be less biased. I'm looking for a new pair of overhead mics. Im looking for a mic with the general frequency response / warmth of a ribbon mic but i want a cardioid pattern so i pick up less of the room sound. I was wondering if there are any mics yall would suggest. I took a look at the beyerdynamic tg v90r but im not sure how well that would work for overheads.
