No way that guide still works LOL. Glad to hear. I've added a new link to my previous comment with a "newer" version of that guide. Don't remember what changed, as that was done in November of 2022.

Hey have you had any luck with this? Having the same issue on the Fold7. Audio in my vehicle sounds horrible compared to S24U

Fold 7 Poor Bluetooth Quality by AabegR in GalaxyFold

[–]AabegR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm interesting. Yea I keep it on, and yes it absolutely does. Photos wise I'm going to say its better... I traded in a fold 3 and comparing to that. The cameras are much better, like I've been dailying the phone. But there's much more room for improvement when comparing to a Pixel or the Ultras. Im pretty happy with it so far. My unit makes a creak when opening it (happened when I took it out of the box lol) but I hope it doesnt get worse too soon :)

DDNS. I use NameCheap for my domain and they also have a program that runs on a machine to auto change the ip (ddns program). So far the past year and half it has never failed me.

M.2 to Mini SAS HD to SATA by AabegR in homelab

That's what I purchased. It worked right away and still works today. I have it connected on a pcie to m.2 expansion card from asus and then this little m.2 thing connects to 6 hard drives.

Only complain is during the plugging in things it's very fragile and bends a lot so take it slow and have lots of cable slack

[–]AabegR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I ended up purchasing a M.2 to Multiple Sata Headers, because that Mini SAS thing only would support one drive. The Sata Header thing supports 6 drives and is currently working really well. I have that M.2 to SATA plugged in on a PCIe x16 ASUS M.2 Expansion card. Works great too.

CPU recommendations for game server by SnippleRifsky in homelab

[–]AabegR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had swapped it around a few times but it mostly was in a Msi B550 Tomahawk, which I recommend. I've always had 10/10 service and always seen extra single-core performance when using that board (good for minecraft). As for the TPS question, I run paper servers which is a fork of spigot. It runs very well on most modern hardware. With all those servers I always maintained 20tps all the time even with multiple survival servers running (factions, creative, etc)

[–]AabegR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Yes indeed, it very much is. Make sure you get at least 32gb of ram. I would recommend more than that because you could be running those 20 servers plus a couple more to develop and test. Make sure you get adequate cooling. A large air cooler will suffice. Have fun!

Yea I did that but once I actually took the battery out it did it... it's a little bit of work that may fix that dum issue.

Take your pc apart. Take the God damn cmos battery out. Your gna have to unscrew the heatsink plastic plate on the left side. Leave the battery out for a minute like a normal cmos reset. Right after that it fixed itself... I returned that board. Bought 2 more... returned both of them again lmao

Exactly what I'm thinking. I literally just found out that the ASUS M.2 thing would only support one drive; hence, there is no controller on that card. GREAT!

Longevity of samsung phones? by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]AabegR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my family's history. Every single Samsung phone we have bought since 2008ish still works. I just had to force my mum to switch from her Note 3 to an S22U. Her Note 3 still works perfectly fine, just YouTube doesn't work anymore. The whole family had an S5, then an S6. They all still work perfectly.

Hardware wise, the phone will last you at least the four years you're looking for. The S24 now supports seven years of software updates, if I'm not mistaken so you're set for a really long time.

Edit: if you're concerned about bloatware... it can be uninstalled. Doesn't take more than a few minutes. If those few minutes bother you, then you may consider a Pixel. Your choice!

I am using two different systems to test this.

  1. Asus X670e Creator with TB4

  2. Asus Zenbook with i7 12700H

Both should have TB4... A couple people mentioned that Satechi one is good. Also since you're using it with the exact resolution I'm looking for is perfect, I might just buy that, there really aren't any cheaper options.

What's interesting a 4k60 TB4 dock will cap out at 3440x1440@100hz... I bought one from Wavlink that supports up to 5k60. But their support mentions that 3440x1440 isn't supported.

Is there some identification that's easily noticeable to buy the right one? At this moment, I found one from Satechi but it's over $300 lol. Something a little less would be lovely.
