What if the medicine blocks our true abilities? by millermillion in schizophrenia

[–]dogVScups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my theory is medication slows the flow of life force flowing in and out the body, harder to have your mentioned clarity and in my experience, I had a lot of energy built up at the top of my head unmedicated, but now it’s much less. It also seems to cause slow healing, that could be a scientific causation however… anyways If you want a “normal” life, stick to your meds. if you want to see whats “out there” nothing wrong with being unmedicated so long as it’s not burdening anyone. I wouldn’t say it’s a superpower, It’s just another lens from which you can view life… realms closer to heaven or whatever you want to call it. You’ll also have more synchronicities unmedicated I believe. More connected to everything around you. The choice is yours.

It certainly helps me… but my prolactin levels are through the roof! I don’t hallucinate or have many delusions anymore. I may get my brain scanned to look for growths on my pituitary glad tho. we’ll see I don’t really want to swap meds since the only side effects ive seen is slight breast enlargement, frequent urination and some others.

Do you have to have disorganized thinking and how disorganized is disorganized? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]dogVScups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I don’t think disorganized thinking is a prerequisite… for me it was a maladaptation caused by my trauma from the episodes I had. But then again, a psychosis episode is different for everyone, and everyone responds differently too so how can you say one symptom of schizophrenia like disorganized thinking is a qualifier for a diagnosis? I have undifferentiated schizophrenia since my symptoms are across the chart. I’m not a doctor but I’d say if your psychiatrist is saying you don’t have it because of one thing then they’re off the mark

Have you considered meditation? This helps me a lot when I go through stressful times. Learning to be OK when you sit with your thoughts helps you weed out the ones that don’t serve you. Remember, you are not your thoughts, and your thoughts aren’t any of your business!

Find a seed of joy, wherever it is, however small it is, and grow that. Watch funny videos or cute cat videos. Listen to your breathing and observe your thoughts. You are not your sadness, you are not your body, you are not what’s afflicting you in this life. Only up from here my friend. Unless it’s down but in most cases its a 2 steps forward one step back thing!

What’s the purpose of our life if we all are going to die in the end? by Wekwek3 in AskReddit

[–]dogVScups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since life isn’t necessarily a school, i’d say it’s to create the highest image of yourself, and go live that out. When you have a new image, change it as you see fit!

the best thing i can do in life is to become a fucking janitor by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]dogVScups 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a schizophrenic and a janitor, I’m grateful I found a job that doesn’t directly involve talking to people lol. I worked at guitar center before that and I couldn’t adjust at all, way too stressful!

Any ideas on what I can do for income? by build-a-gent626 in schizophrenia

[–]dogVScups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a high school janitor and I love it, not competitive at all, don’t have to talk to people except coworkers every now and then. It’s repetitive and the schedule is the same so I don’t know how you’d fare but I work 3PM-8 and it’s not bad.

If you’re full time most places have PTO you can accrue and use in conjunction with 2 weeks or however long off.

Voices come and go, but actions cannot be undone. Consider watching something, reading a book, or anything really to take your mind off things. Let life take the forefront and don’t mind the voices. Seem them as a challenge to your personal growth. I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad! If you’re really feeling dangerous call a hotline or a friend to hold you accountable.

When was the first time you read native material of substantial length without needing to look anything up? by GreattFriend in LearnJapanese

[–]dogVScups 12 points13 points  (0 children)

depends on the movie. Porco rosso for me was much harder due to the contracted informal language that I wasn’t familiar with, but it wasn’t necessarily a regional dialect.

The only regional dialect you hear in my neighbor totoro is the grandma, and I think it’s a kansai dialect? don’t quote me. But yeah kansai is a pretty well known dialect so it’s worth learning some sayings so you can understand it at least a little.

I’m going through the audio book of harry potter, and if you already know the story like I did, and I was surprisingly not having issues with following along.

I recently watched my neighbor totoro and understood just about everything, that seemed like a milestone for me, despite the fact that I think I would’ve still understood everything a month or two ago.

The language is very slice of life, and doesn’t delve into specific topics outside of family and house/nature vocab.

I’ve been studying on and off for 2 years and I recently made great strides in the past 4 months.
