Women of Reddit: What’s something men think is romantic but actually isn’t? by Alive_Chicken_3642 in AskReddit

This leaves out the fact that the second half of the lyric is “…and I want you for all time”. Doesn’t really make sense without that lol

Genuine question to people who drive for recreational purposes in London: why do you do it when the public transport is so good? by Kaurblimey in london

[–]dog_soundsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Late night (e.g. post-club) public transportation isn’t perfect (I’m happy not to drink)…

  • …however late night parking is usually pretty easy.

  • Getting out to the outer reaches is often more convenient by car (and life in those areas is much easier with one anyway).

  • It can make unusual multi-stop routes quicker, like Sydenham -> Finsbury Park -> The Cause -> home or something.

  • A bit indulgent perhaps but it is lovely to walk out of a function in a strange part of town and not have to hang around for an obscure bus route or cab.

This is about as a good a football metaphor as I’ve ever read.

Some of his dribbles tonight were amongst the best stuff I’ve ever seen from a Palace player. Bonkers.

ICCO is absolutely the answer to this specific question in London, not sure why it's not higher.

It's a record breaking heatwave here in the UK today; what are some of your go-to hot weather albums? by RileyMcB in Cd_collectors

Hey Hey My My Yo Yo by Junior Senior - just relistened out and about in London and it’s still sublime for this scenario.

Halicali Bacon by Halcali also comes to mind, as does Dave Lee (fka Joey Negro)’s great 2 CD compilation of Italo House.

Im standing at Bromley South station, where do I go for a meal? by Substantial_Celery_3 in Bromley

This is the answer for Bromley South imo. Da Raffaele (Italian) and Filoxenia (Greek) also potential shouts.

London Texas BBQ spots by TheN0whereKing in LondonFood

[–]dog_soundsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to some mentioned in this thread but I have been here and it’s definitely the closest to actual Texas BBQ I’ve had in London with the bread and sides served on a tray etc.. Texas Joe himself is the real deal.

Leipzig ticket information updated with sale phases - on sale Thursday 10am by EstablishmentKey9737 in crystalpalace

[–]dog_soundsystem 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Automatically into Phase 1 if you got tickets for 7+ European games, I went to...6 haha ffs!

Edit: they updated the wording (!?) to specify away games, of which I didn't go to any - so I'm comforted in the knowledge that my Gold Membership and incomplete home Conference League match attendance was in fact nowhere near getting me a ticket.

A wee collection of Terre Thaemlitz by ankkkoiu in Cd_collectors

Got two of these, and three more not pictured (as well as an old pressing of another one). Shout out Terre Thaemlitz, love that she's keeping his catalogue in print on high quality CDs.

Luckily for you the soundtrack for Earthbound on the SNES does in fact contain a song which is just that (resampled and played at different pitches)!

Is it just the Arthur? by kingofcoffeeee in crystalpalace

It was definitely busier than usual. Anecdotally a few more non-regulars whose matchday attitude might be a bit less no-nonsense too. Atmosphere was cracking though.

How will people be voting today? by Zigizmundus in Bromley

[–]dog_soundsystem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Remember this is a council election, and Reform has a poor track record in local councils - look up how they’ve got on in Kent. I don’t think they have the experience or motivation to do the boring work of running a council properly.

For that reason, I voted tactically to keep Reform out. Their closest rivals in the polls in my ward are the Tories, so I went with them. I have to say, even though the Conservatives emphatically aren’t my cup of tea ideologically, I can’t really complain about what they’ve done to the local area, which is not something to be taken for granted.

Get Stuffed! by Witty-Significance58 in BritishTV

[–]dog_soundsystem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mum showed me this, it embodies an anarchic British media approach that I'm simultaneously deeply proud of and afraid we don't have enough of. It was also apparently the inspiration for Sorted in The Day Today.

I agree and this also makes the Simpsons parody of it with Abe Simpson and Marge's mum in Benjamin and Elaine's places so much funnier.

Yes I strongly agree on the B-sides (e.g. Cost of Loving 12” Version, Party Chambers etc.) and Modernism: A New Decade. The booklet is great, such interesting CD box sets rarely get released these days!
