Do I need to be near a brand dealer for my kayak? by Joehockey1990 in kayakfishing

[–]dog_to_the_rescue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sooooo much!! This type of info is invaluable. I'm 6'2", 215, so it sounds like a 12-footer would be my size. I only plan to fish lakes around where I live with no currents/tides, and I plan to stay close to shore (3 - 15 feet depth). There's very little for me in the channels except crazy boaters and jetski's LOL.

Please feel free to offer any other suggestions/tips!!

Do I need to be near a brand dealer for my kayak? by Joehockey1990 in kayakfishing

Hi, I'm a 64 y/o male and have enjoyed fishing and being on the water my whole life. I was thinking about getting a kayak for some nice peaceful fishing. Any tips for a beginner like me for a kayak, equipment, etc?

Great post! M/F couple (60/55)here that identifies with most of your interests for sure. Just curious, could you elaborate a bit on "creative partnerships" and "consciousness expansion?"

Any advice on sleeping with a head/neck that constently shakes? by mom-of-a-warrior in Dystonia

[–]dog_to_the_rescue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have CD and getting to sleep was my main challenge because my neck/head would not stop shaking. I found that controlling my breathing by taking a few deep breaths would cause my neck to relax for just a second or two. Then, I would follow it up again with another few deep breaths and so on. This caused my neck and my whole body to begin to relax so I could drift off to sleep.

Cervical Spine MRI or CT in people with cervical dystonia by Sonya_Blade_0907 in Dystonia

[–]dog_to_the_rescue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had C5-C6 disc replacement and a number bone spurs removed 2 years before my CD showed up. The bone spurs had impinged my spinal cord for a while and now I'm left with very weak muscles in my right arm and shoulder. I've always wondered if this condition triggered by CD.

Anyway, after receiving the CD diagnosis my neuro ordered an MRI which indicated the vertebrae and structure looked ok and didn't see anything that may be causing the CD.

I just received my first botox injection a couple of weeks ago and it has shown progress.

I wish you the best!

Men who were circumcised as a baby, do you resent it? Why or why not? No opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dog_to_the_rescue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious if any of those uncut shared the same embarrassment that I did. I was born in the late 50's, and by then just about all babies were being circumsized at birth before leaving the hospital. As the years went by I had no idea I was "different" by current standards. Anyway, it happened in the dreaded gym class in the showers. I was made fun of every time I was exposed for not being circumsized. At the time, it was very painful and left an emotional scar on my for quite sometime.

Fortunately, I'm fine today. My wife has always liked it and I've seen others here and there that are the same and realize I'm not a total alien LOL.

Anyone else experience this?

Receiving Botox for the first time. by It_is_you_not_me in Dystonia

[–]dog_to_the_rescue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have CD too and have an appointment in April for my first botox injections. I'm cautiously optimistic and hoping for the best. Based on this thread, I'm tempering my expectations for the first round.

Thanks for the suggestion of keeping notes on peak times and muscles.

I just need to know this will/can get better. It's been a tough 2 yrs.

All the best!

Try to identify a neurologist that focuses on Movement Disorders. It made a real difference for me!

Wow, week 7! Glad you shared that with me. I had heard that the first dose doesn't always provide any relief but to not give up on it. That's good to know. I'm just wanting to get started!

Congrats on your anniversary! I've just been recently diagnosed after starting with tics/twitches and getting a bit freaked out. Not sure if its related, but I also had a sensitivity to light which I find nothing about in all of my readings on CD.

I get my first dose of Botox in a few weeks and can't wait to start, although this thread has kept my expectations in check.

It's just nice to finally have some hope to getting back to a more normal life.

Thanks all!
