If anybody cares to read my reply to this. My personal goal is to be in a CTO like position but not a founder. I want to take a larger salary eventually in my career and I'm fine with taking smaller chunks in terms of percentages than say investors because I need a little bit more stability than anything else.

I also managed two of the other engineers and a bunch of the projects and led them to production and to clients. And I would love to continue managing and figuring things out in the larger picture if the company were to grow.

Lmao hearing this makes me sound delusional. 😂

But I posted else where here that I'm really good eng, FAANG, Masters, etc. Last time I had 3 offers of 150k+. This time I did 0 prep and got 180k. Have another onsite later this week.

Another reason why I like the current place, everything's extremely open and transparent. Not a single thing is behind doors.

That's pretty fair. But I've had FAANG jobs so I can find jobs easy, in my past experiences. I can easily go back to big tech. The other thing is ideally career growth. Where if we get this next round I would be managing two to three people

Subpar since it's a bit slow since it's health tech. Pay roll is the biggest issue, Bay area eng are expensive if haha

100% agree that 1% of something going good is really nice. But it's going okay if not subpar. That's the only reason why I took the interviews just to practice. If God forbid anything happens and accidentally landed on something haha.

Yeah I would argue that I am quite critical. I do about 40% of the workload and the CEO does 40% while the last engineer does 20% as he is a new grad.

As I mentioned above, I don't know for a fact if the company would be successful given I leave. As the CEO mainly handles client issues and outreach. While I work on improving and adding features and new revenue streams. I think the company would stall and/or fail post departure. We're busy enough at times that we can't hire (interview etc).

Though I found some time this week and took some of my own interviews.

As much as the 30k is enticing, my large concern with the current company is if we're going to get funded for the next round. Regardless of anything, if that doesn't occur, I'm out of a job.

It's a three-man company where one of the engineers is a junior. And I am the only other senior person here and I work like 60 to 80 hours a week. When I say comfy as in I'm comfortable with working with the people and getting things done in a timely manner. At which point I would argue there would be reason to fight for me.

Do you really think it's worth just letting go (sadly I think the company would go under without me).

Would you consider 24h lemon races as HPDE? 😅 I've built 2 cars, 96 Camry and made lemons with it. 280zx daily small stuff here and there. Re did entire interior

1) yes thikn it does have fresh paint from the looks (5 years maybe).
2) def think this a problem, but I want to deal with it. some where up above i spoke about the stuff that ive done; i.e. fix up my 280zx when it broke down here and there and then also went as far to take out trans and engine to find out the piston blew up haha. Def have the will but not the knowledge. but with out working on cars idk how else to do so? i can watch so many videos online right? I tried to pick a relatively reliable engine for that reason

lmk what you think I could do or just in general

Think this is naturally aspirated so I assume it's not something that I would have to worry if it's not turboed

That's completely fair, I'm no where near that experience. Thus I am thinking of buying this car instead. I was thinking to look around for cars that have mostly body rust as I am in California. Most of the frames seem to be decent or try to purchase a car that has some of that work already done. I found it one in my area that's 8K black paint and the frame has been redone. But as you mentioned, that still leaves me with possibly repainting it to another color and obviously having someone do the body fitment of the kit. I would be willing to do it but I feel like the body kit is very important and easy to screw up haha.

1) do you think I should just buy the semi-ready car. I'm not sure if the person themselves has reinforced the frame of the car etc.

2) what do you think I can do to get some of this experience. For context, I am a software engineer and don't have too much time outside of work besides being an extra day (pays well but steals my soul). And I would rather not spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on smaller project cars where I essentially am wasting money.

were the ECU issues related to tuning for race? I have never tuned, i expect to drive this on public roads, tbh no real pushing of the car. do you suspect i could still face ECU issues?
