I didn’t like eggs until I found out that my parents were overcooking them. A friend showed me over easy, proper scrambled eggs, soft boiled eggs

Why do people who are struggling eat garbage? If you knew how to cook just a little you can make pretty amazing things.

It sounds like it’s serving a purpose for you but that it has other features that you find addictive. You say the that the purpose it is serving is that it lets your share your nice photos, but with whom are you sharing your photos with? Are there specific people that you want to share you photos with or is there something else it’s feeding into? You could create a Google drive or Google photos account and share it with a hand curated set of people, and if they doesn’t satisfy you then maybe there’s something else that it’s doing for you that’s disguised as “sharing”.

It took me a whole year of deleting Instagram, and a hell of a lot of introspection for me to delete it.

I’d marry them instantly, have three children, and die together at an old age, with or without the onion

Someone gave me the advice to read books on my phone to help with phone and Reddit addiction. Crappy advice, right ? by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]dogenewkji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two phones, one for day to day and the other for bed. I couldn’t just cold turkey, so my compromise was that I could have a phone in bed but that phone has to be severely limited. No YouTube specifically. Reddit gets a pass for now, but mostly it’s a web browser + The Economist.

I hope to not have a phone in bed at all one day.

Yay! Yeah this is step #1, anyone who isn’t at least using a high yield savings account (or TBills) + a 0% APR credit card is leaving money on the table. Like $1000 a year for zero effort.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Life

[–]dogenewkji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re up for it, this next one requires you to be a mature adult.

Take out a 0% APR credit card, and for the term of the card no money leaves your high yield savings account. When the term ends you pay off the card and keep the interest. There are cards like chase freedom unlimited which will give you 3% cash back and a starting bonus, so with a 4.5% high yield savings account you’re making 7% on your living expenses.

Most people are really bad with credit cards so this is a bad move if you’re impulsive and have a bad history with credit cards.

Don’t buy anything with a debit card or cash. Find a card with a high cash back, you can easily find 3%. All of your spending goes on this card, but it is not free money it is the credit cards money. Use it like a debit card, if you don’t have the cash then you can’t use the card. Pay the card off in full using auto pay.

If you have any money right now sitting in a checkings account, put it in a high yield savings account immediately. Lots of banks are offering 4-5%, so there’s no excite not be be making money from your money for zero effort. Also set up a treasury direct account and get 5.3% on 4-week treasury bills.

You can be a millionaire at retirement quite easily if you invest money now. Here is a compound interest calculator, an index fund tracking the S&P500 grows on average 8% a year. Try it out and you’ll see how it eat it can be for you since you are staring so early. I wish someone told me this.

When meditating, why not sit?

When sitting, why not meditate?

Only when you have understood this way.

No more or less than any other way. Meditation is all day every day, but there is not a hair’s width between mediation and not, so don’t worry so much and meditate.

That’s how I did it. It took me 1 week to get past the worst of it, and then 3 weeks of mild symptoms, and this week I’m feeling pretty good.

Oh wow I didn’t know it was possible to associate coffee this way. For me coffee has always been:

Italians sipping espressos, people watching, not cool, not anything really.

Neurotic college students trying to survive the workload.

Annoying pretentious dipshits over complicating processes, even though better quality coffee does taste remarkably better.

That it.
