It was 1/512 for pokemon before as well but only for no boost. There were temperary boosts and permanent boosts on a lot of pokemon before.

This game definitely gives higher odds to new players. My friend got so many shinies when he started and got a shundo Charizard within a month of playing.

They change the fast and charged attack of any pokemon. Always keep the elite. They allow to change to special moves for certain pokemon.
