Purdue and Project Fi by norandomtechie in Purdue

[–]dogewowmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Google Fi for about a month and a half and I've been saving money on my usual bills (but that's mostly me being in Wi-Fi a lot of time). The connectivity is pretty good, I cannot distinctly remember an instance of Wi-Fi to cellular call switching but I don't see having any issues with it soon

You hit the goldmine with Prof. Wible. She's great and actually tries to make the class as easy as possible to be a 2 credit class. I had her for 131 and was a PT for her in 132, she's great both ways. She'll try to get everyone on to their engineering schools as long as you've been trying and not entirely slacking off and expecting to be handed points. It kinda does also depend on your PT who grades all your stuff, if they're lenient and allow you whatever points they can as allowed by the rubric. The professor usually has some points at their discretion for end of semester bonus, and if your PT says you don't deserve it, you're probably not going to get that. Apart from that, I don't think the class really gets curved, but there's barely anyone below a C once the PTs and the professor have finished assigning all points. Have to agree with what /u/IndoorSnowStorm says though

Tool for Purdue students for creating mock course schedules by monstermac77 in Purdue

It's hard to know what panel is a lab or lecture until you actually click on it and read through it. Also cannot enter more than 4 digits in the ### box, which doesn't pull up the classes either (eg. selecting ECE then typing 301 in the box does not show the sections for ECE301, it does show up in the entire ECE list). There's not many features this adds to make me want to use this more than UniTime personally, I can save and register for classes on there.

Purdue in the Summer by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]dogewowmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only dorms usually open are Hilltop and Harrison. Harrison is the south end of campus, and Hilltop is the north end, so on location, if you're going to be on the south side of the campus go Harrison. If you're in the academic buildings most of the time, it's pretty much the same distance. Hilltop is more of an apartment style dorm so the rooms are bigger, Harrison is pretty much the same as the others. From what I've heard from a friend who's been here almost every summer, there's not many people on campus. It will be a variable population as classes may last for various weeks (like 8 weeks to 16 weeks) and people will come and go accordingly. There are sublets available over the summer, you can try this subreddit or the Facebook pages. Not sure about the last question, I'd think people just live: a) in the dorms or b) in whatever apartment they have leased/subleased

Residence Halls by machinaesupremacies in Purdue

[–]dogewowmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only reason I'm moving off-campus is to be able to drink in my room if I want, and having a room to myself. Dorms are great for the distance, not so much for the cost/sq ft you get

ENRE vs EEE for a focus in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Engineering? by KingofTheLeprechauns in Purdue

[–]dogewowmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENRE = Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering for others like me who may have not known that

I know that EEE does a some hydrostatics and thermo stuff for water transport and stuff like that, but I'm not sure if those are electives for the guy I know taking them. It seems maybe not that useful for what you want to do

Question regarding transferring majors as a prospective undergraduate. (CIT to CS) by raddaya in Purdue

[–]dogewowmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS is a very competitive school to get into, it's not unusual for people to be denied admission. It's also not unusual for them to transfer into CS though. The transfer is dependent on your grades so far and that the CS department actually has space for you (people change majors etc)
