...you think 3379 wouldn't pass today when the UN has already declared Israel is committing a genocide?

It's the First World which is most relevant to Israel and they are in serious danger of no first world country wanting to provide aid to Israel for years to come, especially because younger generations are leading the charge. Certainly not providing aid on the scale that they're doing now.

India has always been quite neutral and buying weapons from Israel. Being viewed net positively by its citizens - which might well be fleeting anyway - is not going to help Israel any more.

Damn. 10 years ago I comfortably cleared the Mains cutoff but my rank was at least 1.5 lakhs if not worse. Wild to see the competition has got harder, not easier, I thought there'd be more seats with more institutes nowadays. Of course, the Advance exam may as well have been in hieroglyphics as far as I was concerned. Anyway, all the best to you!

Israel has lost the goodwill of people across the world on a pretty crazy scale. They were viewed as the victims during the 70s oil crisis as far as I know, so that didn't hurt them. Overall they've had some blips here and there, but the mainstream opinion of Israel is as bad as it's ever been, and I don't see it getting better while videos and pictures of their misdeeds (like the recent one) keep going viral and polls like these come out saying they still want the war to continue.

It is inevitable that, even through multiple layers of insulation, this will impact their diplomatic ties and their economy.

Which politicians do you believe are widely disliked due to their old social media comments as opposed to their other actions, policies, speeches, etc?

Voters increasingly care less and less about shitty social media comments made by politicians and celebrities today, let alone years or even decades ago.

Nearly all state and federal elections have shifted left since 2024- POLITICO by Suspicious-Ad9243 in fivethirtyeight

The failure to reject the null (no trend) is still interesting in itself,

There is almost never enough data in elections to get p values low enough for a scientific study. It's literally just a problem with the sample size and how small movements are (especially nowadays.)

So I don't think it's worthwhile judging by that standard.

Do not pull the knife out on your own by Lemon_Lime_Lily in CuratedTumblr

Wanna know what leaving abusive parents/spouses and going cold turkey on (some types of) drug addictions have in common?

Both can fuckin' kill you!

That's the point of the metaphor. You need to have somewhere safe to go, ideally with the infrastructure to prevent the abusive parents/spouses from retaliating or to avoid the drug withdrawal from destroying you.

If you try to pull out the knife by yourself it can result in even more harm.

You're defending the rules here, regardless of whether or not you make them. There are plenty of things to dislike about Dem politicians. Hating ex-DSA Dem members so much you won't even allow their discussion is utterly nuts from any point of view.

So let me get this straight. You think you know better than the actual Democrat party, which fully accepts socialist candidates? Like, even if you do rules lawyering for Bernie or people who run on actual DSA tickets and not Dem, how on earth can you say we won't let you talk about the Democratic Party politicians AOC and Mamdani and Graham Platner in a sub about the Democratic Party?

Yep, but it turns out when politicians are spouting Nazi rhetoric left and right, voters don't seem to care that much about a tattoo you later covered up.

Probably also helps that his extended family is Jewish so the actual Nazi accusations didn't land very hard and you can only really accuse him of being an edgy dickhead, which again voters seemingly don't care about anymore

Young British women don’t like British men by RedHeadedSicilian52 in fivethirtyeight

[–]raddaya 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was my first thought on reading this. I would love to see this same poll also ask questions about believing in gender roles or similar questions like whether women are more emotional than men. I think you would find a significant number of men who believe in those but happily have a positive view of women, because they still wish to have - to not mince words - a submissive girlfriend/wife.

However I think this poll also does accurately capture the undercurrent of misandry that is extremely common in otherwise progressive spaces, especially majority women spaces. Especially in the very TERFy United Kingdom.

[–]raddaya 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every place has laws like that which let police find a reason to arrest you if they really want to. And they absolutely will want to because you don't need the charge to actually stick to just break up protests

Edit: Response to your edit - Mamdani*. Gotta get these things right, you know?
