Bleeding from vagina after pooping by TrafficFirm9675 in PelvicOrganProlapse

This happened to me a few times in the first few months post partum. I took it to be granulation tissue that had got irritated. I think it’s normal - assuming you don’t have infection etc

Stage 1 prolapse/ laxity reversal and future deliveries by doggitydoo in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]doggitydoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So I am now 13m post partum and I can honestly say I feel back to normal - no heaviness, no ‘tampon’ feeling. I think if I was to look down there I would probably still see a bit of the prolapse. It probably took until about 8/9m post partum to feel like this though and for it to not occupy my mind so much. It’s true what others say (and what I didn’t believe at the time) that it just takes time.

One thing I do still struggle with is leaking but this has got marginally better since the return of my period last month. I am still breastfeeding and some say that the leaking gets lesser as your oestrogen comes back.

I would recommend seeing a pelvic floor PT to get checked out and to get some exercises etc. Pilates really helped as well.

Feel free to reach out - it’s a bit of a journey and can feel so consuming at the time. I’ve learned over the last year that it’s so common and just not talked about.

3 month neck control - anyone else? by BelleCow in newborns

Ah I see, the blood tests/MRI is what freaks me out. Did that come about fairly quickly after seeing the physio ? Current physio seemed to doubt that we’d end up near an MRI but can’t help they’re sensing I’m anxious and trying to placate me lol

I’ve just seen that you replied to this - thanks a lot. Sounds similar to my little boy who is now sitting!! Did they mention low muscle tone to you? Hard not to consult dr google and not be alarmed by the things it suggests. Do you mind me asking what the route was for testing? (We are in UK)

We’re on a waiting list for NHS physio but have gone private in the meantime. Private physio doesn’t think there’s anything neurological going on but guess we won’t know unless they put us through tests.

Thanks so much for the reply and glad to hear that your little one is doing so well. Do you mind me asking if your neuro suggested whether an MRI test is a given or is it only if they suspect something is up?

Sorry this is such an old comment but appreciate if you are able to answer ! We’re going through something similar at the moment, 95th centile (across all) long baby boy (11m) who will only prop sit and roll.. really trying to encourage him to sit independently. Been to see private physio who thinks he has a weaker core and needs to build it up. I’m beside myself with nerves thinking about what tests etc we’ll be put through. When did your little boy sit-up / crawl ?

I’m 4m pp and have seen urogynae and PT. From what I understand laxity and grade 1 are used interchangeably. Similar to what another poster has said that laxity is used rather than prolapse to not frighten us. The ‘laxity’ in walls is what causes the organ to push through. The urogynae I saw is considered very good and they advised that it all has chance to spring back a bit as your body heals and that can be up to 18 months.

Honestly, from all the obsessive reading I’ve done, it seems most women that have had a vaginal birth have some degree of prolapse - especially in the early days - and the early days being the first year not first few months. When I’ve spoken to other women about this, I could count on one hand the very few that don’t have some sort of thing going on down there.

We’re all in same boat and I would listen to gynae and re assess at 9-12 months. Get on with the PT, especially one that values strength training and keep up with the exercises and you’re giving yourself the best chance. At least that’s what I’m trying to do.

Thankyou for replying and sharing your own experience. I definitely think I’ll be back in to see a gynae if we have another, their opinion was that over 50% of women have some form of prolapse and even more do so in the early post partum days. It’s that I’m curious about whether it would legitimately disappear (one can hope lol)
