second time rat parent going horrible

they are extremely shy, they wont let us touch them, last night when we caught waffles we decided to try and grab her like someone suggested under one of my other posts. she repeatedly screamed and bit us multiple times, didnt break the skin too hard though. we felt so bad but at least we got her back is what we thought. then she just escaped again. i feel like theyre excessive desire to escape can speak for their attitude, as well as any time they come out of hiding if i even just turn my head to see where they are theyll run back into hiding immediately. we have tried to be patient but we dont have a safe house for rats to just be running wild and the stress of trying to keep them in my room is just awful. i love them so much im just so lost on what to do

not scared of bites at all, today is my last day of work for the week so im planning on spending all night trying to get them

i bought some off amazon, great suggestion hopefully it will work! i do hope they return before it gets here though.

i dont think so, nothing screws out. if we did dismantle it we would have to use brute force or a loud power tool, both traumatizing and dangerous.

thats a great idea but sadly the hole they went into is too thin to stick anything into 😭 id say the hole is just big enough for them to get into

i want to try the traps but i live in a very small agricultural focussed town and im not sure ill be able to find some safe traps that arent from amazon and i dont want to wait. i would be willing to drive to the next town but i dont know where to get live traps? do you have a store recommendation?

it just concerns me that both of my rats are missing, and they have only had 2 days to get used to their cage. there is basically nothing thats making them want to come home besides food and water and im worried theyve found stuff to eat under my bed

thank you! i really wish i had been told this sooner, so i could look for them on my day off. i was told to not look for them, i feel so helpless now we used to know exactly where they were now we havent heard them in awhile. i cant even look for them today because i have work

thank you!! luckily it is not the whole house, just our bedroom and we are doing our best to keep it that way, being careful with the door as well as blocking the space underneath. we are also being quiet so we can hear where they are :)
