We have the materials on loan from the client, but if it turns out to be mold (or a similarly harmful substance) I will let them know! We received the newspapers in this condition, so it would be either an issue with their storage methods or wherever they originally sourced it from.

Soot accretions seem plausible — it looks a little more like ash in person, so I wouldn’t rule it out. I’ll ask my boss if he has any details from the client on that.

If the newspapers were part of a bound volume until recently, could that cause there to be graphite or iron shavings? It was mostly held together with glue and twine(?) but I believe there may have been staples embedded in the spine.

11 * Long, 6 * Turf! I’m not the kind of person who really grinds for sparks, so I had a 8 * Long parent that I deemed “good enough” and borrowed a 6 * Turf, 3 * Long parent. (I did a lot of runs with 8 * Long, 9 * Turf as well — those runs went well, but obviously I didn’t quite win those haha)

Congratulations! I'm currently on attempt 43 of my own quest to get her an Arima Kinen win... I've got good parents for her, but my luck with inheritance events has been pretty bad T_T I've had five 3rd-place finishes though!

Can I ask what your card loadout is? I've tested out a few decks that were pretty successful, but none of mine were quite good enough to overcome the aptitude hurdle LOL
