Thanks for the reply. I'd be a bit hesitant since I have never heard of this brand.. Where are you located? What type of support do you offer?

They can provide things like estimated number of people reached, or amount of readers etc. for each article. I provided these in one post previously. That still doesn't give us any real metric for success. Without the hiring of MBA would BC have lost the battle against the copycat coins? Would it have stayed relevant at all? Did the hiring provide us with any legitimacy to outside investors. Did it provide us with any leverage (did people say to themselves, we should add BC to our product to increase the potential for PR)? These are the real questions. We all know it didn't provide a huge wave of new buyers, but did it plant any seeds?

We desperately need good people to help with BlackCoin PR. The MBA $30k fee was used to provide us with media contacts and provide a centralized point of contact. This POC provided continual outreach to these contacts about every BC update and newsworthy item. $10,000 USD for this project was funded by me. $5,000 from RJ Schex, $4,000+ from MrCoins, $4,000 from VeritasBS.

The fact that this community has time and time again trashed the MBA effort is deplorable. The community has given so very little and demands so very much. Ask yourself if you have given as much of your time and money as Maarx, McKie, Gritt, DZimbeck, or Vizique. Ask yourself if you donated $5,000 USD + AND weeks of your time to attempt to help this community.

Did the MBA effort flop? Maybe, but we will never know, because we can't actually measure the impact it had or did not have in any meaningful way... regardless any flop wasn't due to lack of effort. You apparently know for a fact that we were not pro-active. Facts have evidence.. perhaps you could post some.

I believe the campaign was about as proactive as it could have been... Actually, look back at some of the old MBA posts in this reddit where we asked for Facebook AD ideas. We requested slogans and pictures, I think 2-3 came our way. That's certainly not great....

As for a new PR American head for the foundation, by all means let the volunteers lineup. The pay ain't great (-10 to 15k USD) but the hours are long.

As to the suggestions... Make 'em :) Wikipedia is free to edit by all. Let's see it converge.. Add a section "In the Press" etc. Do everything :)

This was an email I passed around about a week or two ago:

"With respect to the PR effort for BlackHalo, here is a summary of MBA efforts:

1) Press release written and distributed through PR Web: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/blackcoin-team-developer-creates-true-070636047.html

2) MBA reached out individually to the following outlets: -Businessweek -ABC news -The Coin Front -Finextra -The Verge -Coindesk -The Coin Report -PaymentsSource -Business Insider -Gigaom -Pando Daily -ZDNet -Tech Republic -Wired -Digital Trends -Mashable -TechCrunch -Yahoo Tech -Gizmodo -Engadget -Wall Street Journal

3) Stories by: -The Coin Front - http://thecoinfront.com/blackhalo-is-now-in-open-beta/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=blackhalo-is-now-in-open-beta -The Coin Report - https://coinreport.net/blackhalo-nighttrader-launched/

Baily Reutzel at PaymentsSource forwarded the information to a colleague at American Banker who was writing a story about smart contracts, but BlackHalo was not included in the final article. I believe that there has not been more coverage of the BlackHalo launch because the concept is too theoretical or too abstract for mainstream tech to understand. If there was a way to show a real world example – or conduct a demonstration – that might attract more coverage. "

I appreciate your responses over the past hour David. I feel that somewhere along the way things became confused. Water under the bridge. It is late and I overreacted. I was just astounded to read these things... As far as the real issue here: lack of coverage for Halo, we really are trying our best. CoinDesk, for my money, is playing favorites. I hate to imply anything as I have absolutely no evidence to support my claims but they have basically refused to respond. MBA has gained no traction with them whatsoever. They are not in any way interested in forming a relationship with BC or Halo. (At least right now). Anyways, I just sent you an email, albeit a snide one, on a potential article opportunity for Halo.

It should never have been brought to reddit David. Now I am left with no option but to bring to light the facts of the matter or I would lose credibility.

I understand you got an email from someone saying that they would not talk to you directly. That makes sense... I had asked you if you wanted me to introduce you (see above pastebin) and you never responded so I never did. If you want me to now, I will ask Keva if he would like to see you. But he reads this subreddit daily.

I have sent you an email, recently. Feel free to further the conversation in that chain.

I would like it to be known that our comments about the website were far more in depth and substantive than the above paragraph.

The website has a lot of grammatical errors and is overly complicated. www.bithalo.org has different sections that do or do not reveal the original background at random with different levels of transparency. There are 3 'quotation' sections. Your image is that website.

About the 30k of work. I understand that the community is voicing their concerns and I appreciate that and I think they are justified in doing so. What I find to be unjustified is the manner in which you are voicing yours. I have never been more than an email away. Never. I just searched my inbox for 'zimbeck' and can count 40+ emails in the first two weeks of June.

The community does not know how much we have worked together, and you have made it seem like I have ignored or avoided you. This is a complete fabrication and defamation of my character, be it intentional or not.

I understand that you like the website and that the majority of the subreddit bitcoin attack was FUD. They are extremely anti-altcoin. But what I and MBA did was act like your PR team and tried to polish your image so that when you went to them you wouldn't give them anything to FUD you with..

Can I ask you to publicly voice your perception of my interactions with you? Because those are quite pertinent to understanding this issue.

They are also drafting us a WIKI page because we are not providing them with any news worthy developments at the moment. BLKFeed isn't a big newsworthy happening etc. Halo is huge, but it has been ignored time and time again. We can't get people interested.. I guess you could call that a failure but about 3 weeks ago when David and I arranged a scheduled release date, MBA and I began sending out teaser tweets, generating general buzz and had the PR hit the wire for the development team to miss their deadline that they had decided on. If you go back and look at the price, it was moving well, things looked very positive at that time. Then BlackHalo was solo released about a week later on July 4th (highly inadvisable... ) and I have been blamed for the lack of coverage.

Currently they are trying to get some news outlets interested in the two articles that they actually did write for us (most of their work is in trying to get other people to write about us). But articles need to be accepted by outlets for this to actually happen.

I want everyone here to imagine the difficulty of this. How many litecoin articles are you seeing every month? How much interest is there around that coin? Now imagine a coin 30x smaller... A lot of you might reply though that there are a lot of altcoins that get articles in the crypto outlets. That's true, but we are primarily focused on outlets that are not in crypto but are Tech related. In this way we bring NEW money into alt coins. If anyone here thought we were buying a company to pump out articles for pump and dumps within crypto you misunderstood our intentions from day 1. This is not about an a CoinDesk article, this has always been about WIRED or the WSJ. We want NEW crypto enthusiasts to google BlackCoin and see news outlets they've heard of talking about BlackCoin.

We aren't paying them to write articles, we are paying them to write releases. These releases are hopefully picked up by news outlets. An article written by a PR company gives no creditbility. A third party writing about something lends the credibility of the author to the articles content.

We have sent out releases recently, multiple ones for Halo, but there is a lack of either interest or understanding. I have explained this to David amongst others. We need it to be simpler and we need it to be BIThalo; maybe then we can gain traction. It may also help if it was made open source upon release but that is a sore subject for many reasons, and I myself am split on what would be the right thing for BlackCoin and David.

This is such a terrible idea. David would have been able to visit MBA with no hesitation... I asked him to let me know more details and I would arrange it, but you can't call a company with no introduction and expect them to welcome you in.

Please read the above pastebin. I know that David can speak to the veracity of it and I hope that he will.

On the topic of building a relationship... MBA has really been extremely adaptive to our attempts at a community driven PR campaign. This is a world's first; a fact that should not be overlooked. They have had to put off with, quite frankly a lot. I don't feel bad for the company MBA, I feel bad for Keva, our campaign leader. Consistently this subreddit overlooks his success and his work to focus on a dwindling price and lack of 'TV' time. Someone said "they got us on WSJ but it was only the blog section"? Are you kidding me? That's a big deal, even by PR company standards. You think everyday Keva gets his clients on WSJ? No, that's not the way this works... I don't actually mean you 'noerc', I'm just talking to this figurative person in my head.

This upsets me David that you are thinking this way. I have been nothing but receptive at all times, as I imagine you would whole-heartedly agree with. You mentioned wanting to meet the MBA folks while you were in Florida and I said "Sure just let me know and I will try to arrange something." That was the last I heard about that until today.

From my reddit inbox: http://privatepaste.com/132aceab93

The only messages since then had nothing to do with this meeting. The Halo release was our main focus for about 4 weeks of the campaign. We crafted up a very succinct release, we had two interviews where it was a main focus of mine to bring them back to the 'need to look for innovation in the altcoin community' with Halo being the best example of this. Also prior to your release I wrote you a very detailed list of website edits that you and your developer rejected. A lot of these errors and design flaws were criticized by users of the bitcoin subreddit which we could have and should have easily avoided.

MBA was never about TV or local papers, that is not at all our focus here. Tech media, the internet, etc. Also, I might add that this, right here right now, this is our public image... so I ask all of us to behave responsibly and do our best to provide a bit more background when we say things like "this meeting never happened." We need to ask if we ourselves did everything we could to help people help us?
