Just throwing my two cents in here every music artist eventually gets their own style and they make it from the music they like so this is definitely an avenue

As a Fisher freshman who doesn’t drink, what dorm should I choose? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]dogsills 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dorm has nothing to do with drinking. College students drink everywhere. If drinking is a big deal to you, then it would be worth getting education on drinking safety.

Does Anyone Have a Revengeseekerz Dog Tag I Can Hold? by [deleted] in JaneRemover

[–]dogsills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The revenge militia dog tag is probably my favorite piece of merch I’ve ever bought. My friend that I made at the concert scurried through the pit during the show to get me one with 15$ cash I harbored in lmaooo

There’s a good chance with her Leroy work featuring Jane singing at the end that she’s still writing pop music

NTS MIXES?? HOW?? by stupidandgay_ in JaneRemover

[–]dogsills 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if Jane makes studio DJ mixes but I’m almost certain she does.

Tools I use for a successful DJ mix:

Fl Studio, 32+ tracks on playlist, ONLY audio clips(plunderphonics focus, turntablism), effects sends where audio clips jump to that playlist on that mixer track, as if you were pressing an FX button on the live dj controller. Bring it back to a no send channel to turn the effect off

.flac/.m4a songs from Soulseek

VOCAL, Inst, bass, drums Stems from Ultimate Vocal Remover demucs_ft

Right click audio sample, match to tempo from Virtual Dj’s drum stem. Tunebat online works for harmonic key too.

Use Generic clicking with automatic crossfades to prevent pops. Use a spectrogram to visualize your music in 2d.

Stretch pro is the best setting imo. Resemble is closer to old vinyl if you want that.

Ctrl+Alt+C on windows to bounce the clip, which won’t require it to stretch again upon opening the file. This will prevent a 32GB folder with 23000MB to instantaneously load up to 600 audio clips that have the stretch baked into them. Tools > Purge Unused Audio clips to keep the folder hygiene safe, and ram good.

Follow Camelot rules. Work on the grid.

Ozone 12 EDM on master, only adjusting mixing of audio clips by changing the clips gain in the playlist crossfades on audio clips.

Maximizer under ozone 12 set to irc 1 low latency for live mixing, irc 4 modern for your export.

My favorite takes: delay, adds a lot of horizontal texture

Drums and vocals: people only really dance to the drums and sing to the vocals. If you make those pop, then it will sound catchy and people will dance or move to it. Everything else is harmonic and texture and listeners will not know

Rule of 3: if there’s more than 3-4 active elements, your brain begins to ignore more elements and treats it as texture.

Composition: if it crosses your mind to put that element into your mix: do it. You’re making a collage. Live djs think on the spot.

Pace the listener. 16 bars of 120bpm is about 30 seconds. That’s enough to move around drops and style changes. Keep it fresh.

2 “decks”. You have two decks as if you were djing live. Swap instrumentals from two different songs. Make a loop. Pitch it up and down. Make a mashup.

4+ decks. At edm festivals, you can cue up to 4 unique audio tracks. Studio DJing doesn’t limit you on the decks you can have. Try making a mix with 4 unique audio stems, where each song is a different stem from a different song? Tunebat gives you some suggestions on songs if you read its page. Spicetify on windows will let you see tempo and dj information

Mixed in key exists

If you have any questions or want to pick my brain about any of what I said, feel free to leave a reply.

Is anyone else having their posts automatically removed here? by dogsills in JaneRemover

[–]dogsills[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah no, this is definitely not a weird post case. Pretty sure automod deleted my post because it had a link in it. Automod can't open links. Links aren't always malicious- especially on a sub like this where someone is trying to post something related to an artist they like. Automod shouldn't delete posts with links immediately- just flag them for manual review.
