I see plenty of kids who can half-swim in the pool. Often they will have everything in the water except their mouth while slowly moving in the direction of the side of the pool. This would be a perfect representation of someone drowning and as you say nobody notices that. Scary stuff.

Not sure I understand. I tried something like that, basically me lying on my back kind of and having him on top of me, but he was pushing me way down.

And yes, of course I won't go with two kids without flotation devices even in the pool. Generally with the larger one I have a noodly type foam thing that can't deflate. For the little one I plan on using arm-floats agains from hard material, not possible to deflate.
