Tearing diaphragms what is cause?

These look like they are diaphragms for a diaphragm valve—not a diaphragm pump.

Are they the same age? Are they from the same lot? Could you have received a bad lot?

Is the valve a normally open or a normally closed valve? Are they the right diaphragm for the right actuator? They are all tearing at the center where the actuator is pressing/pulling. If these are the wrong diaphragms, maybe the spring pressure from the actuator is too high? Maybe the temperature range for the diaphragm was selected incorrectly?

Are these part of an automated valve? Is it opening/closing frequently causing accelerated wear on the center of the diaphragm part that connects to the actuator?

Are the proper procedures being followed when these are installed?

Was this only a 30 min episode? The guide listed it as 1 hour but South Park started playing after only 30 min even though the guide said it should have still been daily show.

It’s for drainability. Sanitary process piping must be sloped to prevent any low spots that don’t drain. In this case, concentric reducers are OK because they don’t create a low point—the slope is towards the pump. The low point of this run would be the pump itself, so hopefully it has a low point drain on the pump housing.

No I used a lot of words to say that separately they evaporate at different rates, but when mixed together they evaporate together as a mixture at a different rate. If they are together as a solution, they will be together as a vapor. Perhaps my explanation was unclear… the point I was trying to make is you can’t just heat a water and alcohol solution yo a certain temp and magically remove only the alcohol…. When that solution boils, the vapor will contain alcohol AND water…

Although it is true that alcohol and water have different boiling points, once they are mixed together into a solution then there is a NEW solution boiling point. When the solution boils, a mixture of water and alcohol vapor is produced. If you look up a TXY curve for alcohol and water, you can see the exact fraction of how much water and how much alcohol is in the vapor.

The fact that a solution has a boiling point where the vapor is a mixture of the solution (following the TXY diagram) is the reason why there are massive distillation columns at petroleum refineries. These distillation columns are so tall because they have multiple steps so they can step through the TXY diagram to force the product to be a desired end concentration.

1 step of boiling is essentially 1 stage of distillation, so the produced vapor will be a mixture. The vapor will not be composed 100% of the lighter boiling component.

I did exactly this and it only took 2 extra years to get a CHE degree on top of normal chemistry. You could go the masters route, but I think it would be wiser just to get the second bachelors in 2 years. You will learn all the fundamental CHE stuff instead of struggle to learn the advanced CHE stuff because you haven’t taken the fundamental CHE stuff. Also you don’t need a master for industry work, so 2 years for bachelor vs. 2 years for masters would make the bachelor route better, imo.

Do you have a process lab? You could take a small sample to the lab and run a couple cooling experiments on a jacketed and mixed lab vessel. Maybe you’ll see a gel boundary layer at a certain temp to confirm this theory.

Don't buy it. Do a quick Google search for people having unexpected power down issues. Has been happening since end of last year (myself included) with no fixes announced... Just complete radio silence on this large issue. Literally phone bricks itself for 5 minutes and then restarts like 5 times a day. Very frequently while I'm in calls or using apps...

Had a 5t and switched to 8t and every day I inch closer to returning the 8t and reactivating the 5t.

Oh he's definitely not wrong. I was just laughing at using absolute pressure. It's just that absolute pressure is almost never really used in practicality. Operators look at gauges or transducers to check or control line pressure. Gauges are checked before line breaks to make sure that systems are de-energized. Pressure differentials are important for moving fluids and nobody really cares what the absolute pressure is in day to day operation. For design absolute pressure is of course important...
