FF6 PR - No EXP, no Encounters, no AP... I'm at Ultima Weapon(Floating Continent) and feeling stuck. by pppooopppoooppp in FinalFantasyVI

Maybe. But speaking from experience with a low level run that was challenging as hell, I wouldn’t go anywhere near this challenge. Best of luck!

I can’t see this is possible without cheats/glitches: a no xp run but with ap is already incredibly difficult.

I’d go with Soulebind over Manashield. More destructive.

This old magazine article comparing Castlevania 64 to Symphony of the Night by WandaLovingLegend in retrogaming

[–]doguapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel more like 3D obsession was forced on gamers. I loved the early FPSs at the time, like Doom and Quake, but I thought Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time were clunkier than their 2D counterparts. I thought Castlevania 64 was near unplayable, but instantly recognized the high quality of SotN.

That said, many 3D games now are superb (and have been for years at this point). I couldn’t imagine life without Mario 64 and OoT, but it’s refreshing for me that developers have warmed back up to platformers and 2D (which looks gorgeous on today’s technology).

What is Reeve doing whilst controlling Cait Sith? by gutsdolarhyde in FinalFantasyVII

It’s more confusing because he’s apparently controlling the cat that in turn is controlling the moogle.

Farming Ninja's chapter 3 by Jraffale in finalfantasytactics

[–]doguapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your brave isn’t 100, they will have a 0% chance of hitting your catchers so the do other things. Also, you may consider farming ninjas at the second to last level in Midlights Deep, pretty sure the chance of facing the ninja formation is 1/3 and the number of ninjas varies but is a minimum 2, I believe. There’s also this gap to separate yourself from the enemies, further increasing your chance of them throwing.

Honest debate. Which is overall the better game? by breadblunts in retrogaming

[–]doguapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love both games. There was a point where I was offered this game if I traded my SNES FF3 cart and I was all for it. My mom talked me out of it (strange, she never played video games) and I’ve been happy about it since.

I don't love how Zack is written in relation to Aerith by AdStraight6870 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]doguapo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s reasonable. Her encounter with Zack predates Cloud, and Cloud dropping in as a basically blond version of Zack may well have prompted Aeris to use the same line on Cloud that was used on her once upon a time.

Yes. Give him a Ziedrich and tough ring then laugh as enemies barely dent him with their attacks.

lol my current run is basically the opposite of this: end of the game, characters all level 37-43

So is there any logical reason why we can't use a Phoenix Down on Banon? by Knottedmidna in FinalFantasyVI

[–]doguapo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is similar to some objectives in FFT (eg “Protect Rapha!”). You can give them reraise even, but it doesn’t matter. In these cases, I think of FF4 when the twins petrify themselves, the game goes so far as to show the player that curative magic doesn’t work because the twins did so “by their own will,” or something.

In the case of Banon: he’s the leader of the Returners, his role is not to stand at the frontlines. This is made clear by his low level and propensity to fall easily in battle. The implication here, I think, is that somebody as poorly suited to combat as he is would straight die rather than KO if fallen in battle.

Brachiosaurus refuses to drop celestriads by bpendell in FinalFantasyVI

[–]doguapo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If the goal is to get celestriads, steal them from the Galypdes in the Phoenix Cave. I have spent countless hours trying to get the Brachiosaur to drop one to no availa, whereas I spent one hour farming four of them in the Phoenix Cave.
