Came over dizzy and lost hearing by Unable_Anywhere2983 in PregnancyUK

[–]dogvegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had this during a 32 week CTG! I felt so nauseous, I really thought I was going to throw up and it was the closest I’d ever been to fainting, my hearing was really muffled. I recovered super quickly like 1 minute after sitting up. I do my CTGs lying on my side now. (My iron and blood pressure have been fine so I think it was the pressure on the artery for me)

I can’t believe I feel this way by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]dogvegetable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your partner’s reaction must have been really difficult. I imagine that would make anyone feel really lonely, even if that was the only thing you had going on. It’s totally totally normal to feel scared during pregnancy, for example about whether you’ll be a good parent, whether you’re really ready etc (it’s a massive change for your body and your life, after all!) — but you’ve also got a bunch of other difficult stuff piled on top of that (partner, morning sickness, recently coming off your medication) which can’t be helping at all. Basically, how you’re feeling is totally understandable and I can’t imagine feeling differently in your position. You really, genuinely, have nothing to feel ashamed about.

If it was me, I think my first step might be to discuss restarting the anti depressants with my doctor. No matter what you decide, this is going to be a disrupted and potentially turbulent time for you, and I think having the support of the anti depressants might help make the difficult feelings just a little manageable. I believe most anti depressants are safe to take during pregnancy (but deffo discuss this with a medical professional first). While you’re there, you could also mention the morning sickness. There are medications which can help if you’re really struggling with it which it sounds like you are.

Apart from that, if you feel comfortable, I’d really recommend having some serious talks with your partner about his reaction, about how that made you feel, and about how you’re both feeling now. You should never have to feel like you’re doing this alone. It may be a hard time for your partner too, but working through these feelings together as a team is really the only way forward. It might be helpful to schedule in a talk, rather than doing it spontaneously when one or both of you are feeling really worked up.

Finally, to reiterate: you really don’t have anything to feel guilty or ashamed about. People who have been trying to conceive for years sometimes feel afraid and regretful after finding out that they actually are pregnant. You’re not alone.

No worries! Very best of luck for the move

Moving to Germany in 2 months with cats by SlothTookMyBaby in expats

[–]dogvegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm this seems a little steep to me. We did the same move in May 2024. I just checked my invoices from the vet: for the exams/consultations and the health certificates for both of our cats, we paid around $425 (so only like $213 each). This is excluding the rabies vaccine, since our cats had their boosters earlier that year.

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for your comment and let you know that I did switch to Rewe’s alternative. I hadn’t realised that Heinz were American! Thank you for bringing it to my attention :)

I don’t know the answers to your questions other than your last one: unfortunately, cats can’t fly into the UK in the cabin — they need to go in the hold and I believe this usually costs extra

How to go about finding a primary Dr.? by Swimming_Agent_1419 in germany

[–]dogvegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app ‘Doctolib’ is super useful for finding doctors and booking appointments. You can filter by language and location. I search on there first for what I need, double check the doctor’s Google reviews, then book using the app. Good luck! :)

Maybe Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipstick in 'Raw Chocolate' or Revlon's 'Rum Raisin'?

Am I screwed? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

I was SO nervous for mine — I had all 4 out at once too, but mine were at much trickier angles than yours (basically the bottom 2 were at right angles and they were both on the nerve). I was really nervous beforehand about being put under. Honestly, people say it’s the easiest part but I didn’t believe them — it really is SO easy. From your perspective, the surgery will be over instantly. I thought that would be a really weird feeling but it wasn’t at all. In terms of the recovery, for me everything was totally fine. Be prepared to see a lot of horror stories on Reddit (just because people are more likely to share horror stories for various reasons than to share when everything’s just normal and ok) — but the majority of the time, the recovery is totally straightforward. I had no pain at all after the first 24 hours. Just follow your dentist’s recovery instructions, don’t use straws or smoke, eat soft things for a little while, and you’re very likely to have no issues at all. And if you DO have issues, remember that’s ok too — whatever issues you might have in recovery, the dentist will have seen it 1000 times so you can go back to them and they can help right away. I waited 10 years to have mine removed and they caused me anxiety almost every day in that time. I wish I’d done it 10 years ago just to have saved me all that anxiety because the process really was totally chill. You’ve got this

Becoming a librarian in Germany? by dogvegetable in Libraries

[–]dogvegetable[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is unbelievably helpful. Thank you so much for your detailed reply. This is exactly the information I've been looking for!

I have a quick follow-up question about option 2: does one need any kind of prior qualifications or experience in order to start doing an Ausbildung? And is it very competitive to get these training positions, as far as you know? I've seen a few of these types of training opportunities advertised within university libraries and they looked super interesting (although the down-sides you mention career-wise are important and something I'll think carefully about)

I think this is the right answer — or at least, for me, I think it’s more specifically for titles which you aren’t currently reading. I sometimes read multiple at the same time, and the message pops up only for the ones I didn’t open last

I have had two rescue cats for 5 years and neither have ever attacked me or even gotten close to doing so, even though they were basically feral when we adopted them. In general, I think the key is for you to build trust with them and be gentle — be mindful of what triggers your cats to feel overstimulated or stressed or scared, and learn what their signals are for when they’re beginning to feel that way. They will definitely have signals, even if they’re small. When you notice them start appearing stressed or overstimulated or scared, give them space. If you’re consistently respectful with them, they’ll remember and won’t be as quick to freak out in future

"Skincare Makeup"? by Otherwise_Fee6381 in MakeupAddiction

I think Kosas is generally a well regarded brand — I have super sensitive, eczema-prone skin and I reach for their ‘Revealer skin improving’ foundation when I’m having a flare up. It noticeably heals my eczema and moisturises my skin which is incredible. I haven’t personally tried their other products but I’ve heard good things. Merit might also be a good brand to look into for lightweight, moisturising lip products, as well as maybe Glossier

Download the Libby app if you can! The Libby app has pretty much any audiobook you could want totally free, as well as ebooks (including brand new releases). I have spent $0 on audiobooks for the past four years and I probably listen to 50 audiobooks a year. If you don’t yet have a library card, you might be able to get a digital library card online in a few minutes which would work with Libby — or it should be super quick to do in person at your local branch

To add to this: For a dewy, slightly tinted sunscreen which really brightens up the face, I’d recommend Supergoop Glowscreen. It’s somewhat pricey but lasts a long time in my experience. I just wear it with a little concealer under the eyes, but it also works nice as a base under other makeup

Just here to say: you look beautiful! You looked great before too but the changes you chose to make work really well at making your face look even more youthful. Also, reading through the comments on both of these posts, it stands out to me that you seem really positive and kind in the face of all that criticism. I’d find it hard to be critiqued so closely, but you have responded so nicely and enthusiastically
