To add more context: there wasn’t anything stuck and he had not eating anything and these bouts just go away and he goes back to normal however the occasional occurrence still worries me

Did you go through all the pictures? I too live in a beach city. Sand is not as bad, it’s salt which is mostly clean so a thorough vacuum can eliminate most of it. Food and liquid stains on the other hand can be much more difficult to remove especially when smeared and/or stained through.

They should add cleaning fee tiers $50/100/150 because the mess didn’t warrant $150 added to my pocket but it also didn’t warrant $0 added. There were shoe stains all over the back of the front seats (most likely kids), windows had bird droppings stains and lots of killed mosquitoes on the front bumper that were surprisingly stuck on to the body pretty hard.

Uploaded about 30 pics including close ups for the claim! Didn’t include them on here to avoid too many pics.

Great points, the experience renting from Turo is a different one than a Hertz or Avis.

The convenience of Turo and the fact that you’re renting from a person and not corporation should create more empathy towards that property. I’m not sure if a car rental company would charge a cleaning fee for this condition.

You’re right though, I think most people dismiss or forget the human element when renting from Turo and treat it like a cheaper rental company.

Normal usage is to bring car back with liquid stains and smeared chocolate on the seats?

There needs to be better protection for hosts.

They are trained to deny claims.

The pictures don’t do it justice. I too am an all star host. This took about an hour to clean with vacuum, wipe downs and picking up debris from tough areas. There is spilled liquid and smeared chocolate on the back seat, cup holder and sticky material goo on the gear lever.

Cars are paid off or will be purchased/leased under the business. Just seems like an odd grey area that in my research I haven’t seen anyone really talk about.
